Chapter 2
Kelvin and I were college classmates. He was the son of a wealthy family, while I was a scholar from
a small town.
Originally, we had no connection whatsoever, not even a chance encounter, during our four years
as classmates.
The graduation ceremony ended, and I went to the administration office to return my deposit with my water card. Coincidentally, I bumped into Kelvin and Margaret Melton having a breakup.
It is said that Margaret was the adopted daughter of the Kelvin family. Kelvin doted on her to the core and had already arranged a marriage for her.
After graduation, Kelvin couldn’t wait to marry her, but Margaret wanted to study abroad. This
time, Kelvin didn’t compromise.
Kelvin, full of youthful energy, grabbed hold of me as I walked by.
“Give you two million dowry, marry me!”
How much did you say? I looked at the parked Maybach next to me, swallowed my saliva, and nervously asked, “Credit card or cash?”
“Kelvin, did you have to make such a scene? Why couldn’t you just let me have my way?”
Margaret wore a little white dress, like a lily of the valley in the wind, thin and stubborn.
Kelvin tugged at the corner of his mouth and whispered to me, “Kiss me.”
I widened my eyes and said, “Ah?”
“Kiss me, add a hundred thousand!”
“I’ll give you my card number first…” Before I could finish my sentence, Kelvin pulled me over and
our mouths collided.
It was very painful, but I could endure it for a hundred thousand.
Margaret’s face turned pale, and when Kelvin let go of me, she gave me a disgusted look as if I were
something dirty.
“Even if you were angry, you couldn’t marry a woman like this, who doesn’t even care about her dignity for money!”
It sounded quite annoying, but I was busy searching for my bank card in my bag and didn’t have any time to pay attention to her.

“Aren’t I helping you now?” Kelvin sneered at her, “I’m getting married, do as you please!”
After saying that, he pulled me into his car. It was my first time riding in a Maybach, and it felt so luxurious!
The car drove straight to the city center, and I finally found my bank card and handed it to Kelvin.
I noticed that his eyes were red and he looked like he was about to break apart.
“How about I get off at the roadside?” I said tactfully.
Kelvin struggled to hold back his tears as the car sped away. “Can we skip the wedding and just go straight to getting married?”
After receiving the certificate, my phone immediately received a notification of the deposit.
The endless zeros made the corners of my mouth stretch to my ears.
I kindly reminded Kelvin, “Please add a note and make sure to write the word ‘dowry‘.”
He raised an eyebrow and said, “Don’t worry, I haven’t reached the point of being so poor that I have to ask for a dowry.”
After saying that, he threw a diamond ring at me. My eyes lit up, really, I wouldn’t dare to buy such
a big stone.
Ten carats!
Although the back of the ring is engraved with the initials of Kelvin and Margaret, the size is also
not suitable.
But, what does it matter?
No matter whose name is engraved, it was equally valuable when sold.
That day, I carried my luggage from the dormitory and moved into Kelvin’s villa in the suburbs. He lived on the third floor, and I lived on the second floor.
To be honest, this house was too big, and under normal circumstances, we wouldn’t even see each
other once a month.
And he also said, “Don’t bother me, I’m busy.”
I understood, after all, Kelvin and I got married, but it was only to make Margaret jealous.
It was only right for her to remain pure, but as for me…
Of course, I lived in a luxurious villa, eating afternoon tea prepared by servants, and boredly

counting the money on my bank cards.
Later, the money was saved.
I longed for Margaret to come back, like wishing upon stars and the moon, so that this scapegoat
could quickly leave with the money!
