Chapter 6
In the afternoon, I got up and drove to the city.
There is a class reunion tonight, and Kelvin is unlikely to attend, so I can go.
In the past, I hardly ever attended classmate gatherings. When I was in school, I had to work everywhere, so I had neither money nor time.
After graduation, Kelvin and I received our certificates, but he didn’t want our classmates to know. I wouldn’t go to any event where he was present.
When I arrived at the restaurant, most of my classmates had already arrived. When they saw me enter, they all looked surprised.
“Annabel, today Kelvin didn’t come, so we have to split the meal expenses.”
My former roommate, Giada Davenport, stopped me.
Our family backgrounds were equally matched, and I once competed with her for a scholarship. I narrowly won by a margin of fifteen points.
So later when I applied for the scholarship, I considered that I had income from part–time work, so I gave the opportunity to her.
She asked me why I didn’t give the scholarship to her, saying that I selfishly took the higher amount of scholarship.
I wanted to explain that I had the ability to pay for the meal, but the class monitor spoke first and said, “It’s been two years since we graduated, Annabel has such good grades, I’m sure her job is also good, she wouldn’t be short of this money.”
Everyone made room for me and asked, “So, Annabel, which company are you currently working for and how much is your salary?”
I awkwardly smiled and said, “I didn’t have a job.”
Giada looked disdainful and said, “You must have heard that Kelvin paid for the class reunion last year, so you came specifically to mooch off the food this year, right?”
“This meal was not cheap at all, for example, the bottle of red wine in my hand cost over ten thousand!”
“You don’t even have a job, are you sure you want to sit here?”
I felt puzzled, and my classmates whispered to me, explaining that Giada had married a wealthy old man after graduation.

So, she felt that she was now superior to me.
I was speechless and looked at the red wine in her hand, pretending to be surprised. “So you like to drink this wine!”
Giada snorted disdainfully, and I smirked, saying, “So you can’t tell if it’s fake?”
The drink that made me drunk last night was this one, but the words on the bottle in front of me is different from the original version, probably the difference between Sprite and Sprit.
Giada’s pupils slightly dilated as she hastily explained, “It’s impossible, I took this from my house, how could it be fake!”
Originally, this bottle of wine was brought by her, but knowledgeable classmates who take a closer look will find that there is indeed something wrong with this wine.
The classmates whispered to each other, saying that Giada’s husband’s company had encountered problems. She was trying every possible way to flirt with Kelvin, hoping that he could lend a helping
hand.
Giada heard it, her face changed slightly, and she angrily said, “What do you mean, how could I be the one seducing Kelvin! It was him who approached me first, and he even sent me a lot of gifts in the live room!”
My gaze fell on Giada, Kelvin didn’t even watch the live stream. Even when I accidentally used his account to give a tip to the sideline live stream, he never noticed.
No, upon closer inspection, isn’t Giada the side–streaming female anchor that I tipped?
She just had heavier makeup and wore less clothing during the live broadcast.
