Chapter 1
At my wedding reception, surrounded by distinguished guests, my fiancé snatched away my bridal
bouquet.
He dropped to one knee and proposed to my sister instead. Touched by his gesture, the said yes.
The wedding continued with a different bride, leaving me as the subject of endless grip and ridicate
That’s when Alexander Sinclair, the heir to LA’s most prominent business empire, publicly offered me a marriage contract.
After our wedding, Alexander showered me with affection, and I allowed myself to fall in love again.
On the night of my birthday celebration, I pretended to be drunk and fell into Alexander’s arms, feigning
sleep.
The guests were discussing how much one could truly love another person.
That’s when I heard him say: “I married the sister my beloved despised most, just to clear all obstacles from her path.”
Each word struck me like thunder, as I lay there against his chest, closest to his heart, listening to him profess his love for my sister Claire.
My blood turned to ice, and I felt myself sinking into an abyss.
The private lounge fell silent for a moment before erupting in excited cheers.
“As expected of Alexander Sinclair! Sharing a bed with someone he doesn’t love, all for his true love’s
sake!”
“What devotion! Silently loving Claire all these years, even sacrificing his own marriage for her.”
Alexander’s voice was deep yet gentle: “I’d do anything willingly, as long as Claire finds happiness.”
His friend teased: “I heard Claire and James Blake are getting divorced. You’ll be able to rekindle your romance soon. So, when are you planning to come clean about your current… situation?”
Alexander paused before responding coolly, “Evelyn depends on me. We’ll address that when the time
comes.”
“And don’t mention any of this in front of her. I don’t want to deal with her dramatics.”

Everyone quickly agreed, no one daring to cross him.
Someone, emboldened by alcohol, joked: “But you’re not losing out, Sinclair. A movie star’s company must be quite… enjoyable.”
Alexander chuckled, his fingers absently caressing my earlobe: “Indeed, it is.”
I clenched my jaw, fighting back tears.
I had thought Alexander Sinclair was my salvation from the depths of despair.
Instead, he was the knife cutting my lifeline.
Seven years of marriage, now reduced to a joke.
James, Alexander – it didn’t matter.
They all loved Claire.
No one loved me.
