Chapter 2
After the gala, Alexander carried me to the car himself.
“My wife’s asleep. Drive carefully,” he instructed the chauffeur softly.
still attentive and caring, he even leaned down to nuzzle against me while I “slept,” his breath warm against my ear.
Lying in his arms, memories flickered through my mind like scenes from a film.
Years ago, James Blake, my childhood sweetheart, had abandoned me at our wedding
Overnight, I became the laughingstock of Los Angeles high society.
That’s when Alexander appeared with his marriage proposal.
He explained that he’d just inherited his family’s corporation and needed a stable, suitable marriage to strengthen his position within the company.
Disillusioned with love, I readily agreed to our marriage of convenience.
He gave me a wedding that stunned Los Angeles, with fireworks illuminating the Pacific coast all night.
Though I’d sworn never to love again, his unwavering devotion over seven years gradually softened my
heart.
Now I realized the jar I thought was filled with honey had contained poison all along.
Immerse yourself long enough, and it will kill you.
“Darling,” I murmured, feigning grogginess as if just waking up.
Alexander immediately adjusted me into a more comfortable position against his shoulder.
“Baby, you drank so much. Are you feeling unwell? I’ll make you some hangover soup when we get
home.”
I clung to his arm, using my sweetest voice: “I was just happy today.”
My tone remained as saccharine as ever. If he could act for seven years as an amateur, I could certainly do better as an award–winning actress.
Alexander was clearly pleased, kissing my forehead.

Chapter 2
“I have a new project keeping me busy, so I won’t be able to visit you on set as often.”
“I’ll make sure meals are delivered to you there, and have your assistant ensure you cat everything… And if you don’t behave… you know what happens…”
His suggestive touch squeezed my waist.
Fighting back nausea, I twisted away.
“Stop it… that tickles…”
