Chapter 63
“Nice, Winnie.” Octavia shakes her head in amusement, being used to my clumsiness.
“Did Winnie just trip over nothing again?” Kamri asks knowingly as she walks over to us.
Kamri is aunt Megan and uncle Max’s daughter.
Max chose her name.
Something about mum and a baby project.
“Yup.” Octavia nods.
“Nothing new.” Lucas -uncle Dylan and uncle Chris‘ adopted son- states as he walks over with Kamri
and smiles at Octavia. “Hey, Tavia.”
“Hey, Lucas.” Octavia smiles back, blushing slightly.
Octavia has had the biggest crush on him since we were eleven years old. We’re seventeen now.
And no, it’s not like I’m guessing she likes him. I beat the truth out of her with a pillow when we were twelve because she kept refusing to admit she liked him.
He likes her too.
He just doesn’t know it.
Let me tell you something about Lucas.
He is literally the most oblivious person ever. So oblivious that he doesn’t even know when he likes
someone.
Good thing we’ve been best friends literally our whole lives and I know him better than he knows
himself.
“Hey, Winnie.”
Octavia and Lucas turn to look at me while Kamri stifles a laugh.
“What?” I look at them. “You said hi to each other and I felt left out.”

“Hey, did you guys hear about the new guy?” Kamri interrupts before either Octavia or Lucas could
say anything.
“We’re getting a new guy?” Lucas questions.
“Yeah, and apparently he’s really hot.” Sophia -the school’s very own gossip queen- suddenly appears next to us, scaring the shit out of us. “Like really, really hot.”
And with that, she walks off, leaving us staring after her.
“You know, we’ve been going to school with her since elementary school. We should really be used to that by now.” Octavia pipes up.
“I will never get used to her randomly appearing like she’s fucking Houdini or some shit.” I state just as the bell rings.
“I have Math.” Kamri tells us. “What about you guys?”
“I have English.” Lucas states.
“History.” Octavia and I both say in unison.
Kamri and Lucas both stare at us.
“What?” We both say again.
“Stop doing that.” Lucas points between us. “It’s creepy.”
Octavia and I both look at each other before sharing a smirk and turning back to Lucas.
“Here’s Johnny!” We speak in unison again, mustering up the creepiest voices we could.
“Oh my god, stop being creepy!” Lucas exclaims as Kamri laughs loudly.
“Stop being a baby.” I shoot back instantly, causing Octavia to burst out laughing and Kamri to laugh
even more.
“Alright, lets go to class.” Octavia says when she and Kamri finally calm down.
“Yeah, the warning bell’s about to ring.” Kamri agrees.
“Bye, guys.” Octavia exclaims as she grabs my arm and starts dragging me to class.
“Ka Kite!” I yell as Octavia drags me along with her.

Chapter 63
“Bitch, stop pulling me!” I snatch my arm from Octavia’s grasp as we burst in through the door of our History classroom. “You’re going to rip my damn arm off.”
“Ah, King Twins,” Mr Hardmeat shakes his head, sighing. “Late on the first day. Why am I not
surprised?”
“Sorry, sir.” Octavia smiles apologetically before going to the back of the room and sitting down in
one of the three empty seats.
I shrug. “We saw Channing Tatum. Decided to get an autograph and feel his abs.”
Mr Hardmeat rolls his eyes. “Sit down, Winnie.”
I salute. “Sir, yes, sir.”
I walk to the back and sit down next to my sister, leaving an empty seat on the other side of me.
Just as Mr Hardmeat opens his mouth, the classroom door opens and the principal -Mr Pines- steps in, followed by a boy who had his head down and hood up.
“Hello, Mr Hardmeat-”
Mr Pines is cut off as my laugh rings out.
“Is something funny, Miss King?” Mr Pines raises an eyebrow.
“Sorry, no matter how many times you say Mr Hardmeat-” I cut myself off, chuckling even more. “I’m going to laugh every time.”
Mr Pines just shakes his head at my immaturity before looking around the classroom.
“Good morning, class.” He smiles before gesturing to the tall boy next to him. “We have a new student. Please do your best to make him feel welcome.”
Mr Pines nods to Mr Hardmeat before walking out.
“What’s your name, son?” Mr Hardmeat turns to the boy who still hasn’t looked up.
He doesn’t answer for a few seconds.
“Adonis West.” A husky voice says, but he still doesn’t look up.
Okay, that’s one bloody hot name.

“Hello, Adonis.” Mr Hardmeat smiles. “Sorry, son, but’s there’s no hoods up in class, so if you could take it off, that would be great.”
“I’m alright.”
The whole class chuckles.
“Mr West.” Mr Hardmeat says warningly.
Adonis mutters something under his breath before his hand slowly moves up to his hood and he pulls it down, revealing a mess of jet black hair on top of his head.
He then looks up.
Every girl in class -and a couple of boys–swoon.
“Hot damn.” I say loudly without thinking, making him lock eyes with me.
I instantly slap my hands over my mouth, sinking down in my seat.
“Smooth.” Octavia whispers.
“I know right?” I whisper back.
He’s gorgeous. A sharp jawline paired with high cheekbones, along with full, pink lips which go perfectly with his tanned skin.

But what really stands out, are his bright violet eyes.
Is it even possible for someone to have violet eyes?!
Whispers immediately fill the room.
“Oh my god, he’s so hot!”
“You think he plays football?”
“I didn’t think he was going to be this pretty.”
“Fuck me, daddy.”
“Woah, okay, whoever just said that really needs to calm their damn hormones. Like bitch, sit the hell down!” I shout without thinking, making everyone shut up and look at me.

Did I mention I have no filter?
I’m a pretty straight up person.
“Thank you for that, Winnie.” Mr Hardmeat says sarcastically.
“No problem, Mr H.” I grin making him shake his head and turn back to Adonis.
“Why don’t you tell us something about yourself?”
“No thanks.” Adonis refuses.
“Just one thing, Mr West.”
Adonis rolls his eyes before turning to the rest of the class. “I really don’t want to be here.”
Same.
“Oh, uh, okay.” Mr Hardmeat looks taken aback for a second before he regains his composure. “Why don’t you take a seat next to Miss King. Miss King raise your hand.”
