Chapter 64
Octavia and I share a look before speaking in unison. “Which one?”
Mr Hardmeat stares blankly at us. “The one that has an empty seat next to her.”
I look to my right and find an empty seat.
I look back to the front and raise my hand.
Mr Hardmeat rolls his eyes at me and turns to the whiteboard, starting the lesson as Adonis walks to
the back and sits down at the desk next to me.
“Hi.” I whisper, leaning over to him. “I’m Winnie.”
“I never asked.” He says, not looking at me.
Did this motherfucker just-
“I don’t care if you never asked. I’m telling you anyway.” I glare at him before calming down and smiling at him. “Hi.”
་་
He finally looks at me. His violet eyes meeting my bright blue ones.
“I don’t care.”
And with that, he puts his arms up on the desk and lays his head on them, pulling his hood up.
Ughhhh, this is so boring!
I’ve been sitting in this damn classroom for ten thousand years!
Okay, maybe not ten thousand years, but that’s what it feels like.
I’ve been sitting in history listening to Mr Hardmeat–hehehehehehe- drone on about some shit that
happened in past, which has no relevance to me since I’m not planning on becoming a teacher anytime soon and teaching horny teenagers about old, dead guys.
Who knows, some may even have some type of Necrophilia fetish.
Ew.

My eyes start traveling to the clock above the whiteboard.
Each period is and hour long and I’ve had to have been siting here for at least forty–five min–fifteen
minutes.
I’ve been suffering in my seat for what felt like years, and it’s onLY BEEN FIFTEEN MINUTES?!
If the bell doesn’t ring soon, I’m gonna take that apple from Mr Hardmeat’s desk and use it to gauge
my eyes ou-
“-ng! Miss King!”
Octavia nudges my side as my head snaps up and I find everyone staring at me.
“Huh?” Is all that comes out of my mouth.
“I asked you a question.” Mr Hardmeat crosses his arms, staring at me impatiently.
“And I would answer it…if I knew what it was.” I flash him a smile.
He sighs, rubbing the bridge of his nose. “Who was the twenty–second president of the United States?”
“Oh! Grover Cleveland!” I exclaim instantly, grinning.
The whole class stares at me.
“What the–we weren’t even learning about that.” Octavia whispers to me.
Mr Hardmeat gapes at me. “You didn’t know how to pronounce ‘deceased‘ until the end of Freshman
year, but you randomly know who the twenty–second president was?”
I shrug. “Yup.”
He shakes his head, turning back to the board while mumbling to himself. “I worry about this generation. I really do.”
-Winnie-
As soon as the bell rings, Adonis pulls his hood up and strides out of the room before everyone else.
I grab my backpack and rush after him.
“Hey, hot stuff!” I call, huffing when he doesn’t stop. “Adonis!”

He stops walking and his shoulders sag.
“What do you want?” He sighs in annoyance, not looking at me as I catch up to him.
“To be your friend.” I grin at him.
“I don’t want to be your friend.” He tells me as he starts walking again.
“But-”
“No.”
I pout as I watch him walk away before shrugging.
I’m going to be his friend one way or another.
There’s no escaping Windora King.
I laugh evilly before having a coughing fit.
I look to the side and see Octavia staring at me with an eyebrow raised. I open my mouth to speak
but she cuts me off.
“I don’t even want to know.” She shakes her head before walking off.
“Nora’s after school?” I call after her, even though we go to the cafe all the damn time.
“Definitely.” She calls back.
“Winnie, stare any longer and you’re going to burn a hole through his head.” Lucas says, making me look away from Adonis, who is sitting at a table alone in the cafeteria, his hood pulled up yet again.
“I’ll be right back.” I grab my lunch tray and walk over to Adonis‘ table.
“Kia Ora, bro.” I grin as I drop my tray on the table and plop down in the seat opposite him.
“You again?” He grumbles, not looking up from his lunch tray.
“Me again.” I say cheerfully.
He sighs, looking up. “What do you want?”
“Same thing as two hours ago.” I shrug, eating a fry from my tray. “To be your friend.”

“I don’t want to be your friend.” He repeats what he said earlier today.
“Too bad.” I eat more fries. “There’s no getting rid of Winnie King once you’ve talked to her.”
He breathes through his nose in annoyance. “You’re so annoying.”
I grin proudly and shrug, taking a bite huge of my burger. “I know.”
“And a pig.” He says with a raised eyebrow. “At least you’re not one of those girls who order a chicken Caesar salad without the chicken and the caesarness, then complain about eating healthy.”
I raise an eyebrow. “Caesarness?”
“Yes, caesarness.” He says. “Now go away.”
“Nope.” I take another bite of my burger. “You’re freaking beautiful, by the way.”
He looks taken aback for a moment. “Oh, uh, thanks?”
I grin, eating a fry. “You’re welcome.”
“You can go now.” He raises an eyebrow.
“Nah, I’m alright.”
He groans. “Why are you so annoying?”
“I prefer the term persistent.” I smile innocently.
Just then, someone drops their lunch tray on the table and plops down next to me.
I look over and see Octavia.
“Hey, bitchass.” I eat another fry.
“Hey, buttmunch.” She greets.
Adonis looks between us before focusing his gaze on me. “There’s two of you. Great.”
“Uh, yeah, that’s kind of what ‘identical twin‘ means.” Octavia raises her eyebrows at him. “I’m
Octavia and we’re both in your History class, so I don’t know why you just realised.”
He shrugs. “It’s not like I was paying attention to the annoying girl and her sister.”

“Yeah, instead he decided to be a dickhead then he went to sleep.” I tell my sister.
“Okay, now that I’ve been introduced to the annoying girl’s sister, you can both leave.” He says.
Then, Kamri and Lucas appear, dropping their trays down on either side of Octavia and I
