“Punishment for being piece of shit students?” I answer in a questioning tone as I poke at the slob with my fork and grimace when it jiggles. “This thing should be in one of Nicki Minaj’s music videos.”
Octavia suddenly stabs the blob with her fork. “I think mine just moved!”
I make a face and punch my tray away from me.
“Why did lunch lady Marge have to get a cold?” Lucas whines.
All of a sudden, two glad–wrapped Eggos are dropped on the table in front of me before Adonis plops down in the seat next to me, Flynn sitting on my other side.
Even though Flynn likes Octavia, he always sits next to me when we have lunch because his number one rule has always been
bros before hoes. Or in his words, ‘dicks before chicks‘.
I don’t have a dick though.
So let’s just stick to bros before hoes.
Anyway, I was the first friend Flynn made when he moved here and we’ve been pretty much attached to the hip ever since. He even made a vow to me that no matter how much he likes someone, I’ll always be the number one girl in his life.
“What’re you doing?” I question Adonis in confusion.
“Being a good friend.” Adonis mumbles simply, putting a zip–lock baggie of chocolate chip cookies in front of himself. “Flynn
told me you like Eggos.”
A wide grin grows on my face and I feel like my face is about to split in half.
I instantly throw my arms around his torso and wrap him in a tight hug.
“No, stop it.” He tries to get me to let go. “I don’t hug until at least ten minutes of being friends.”
“Nope, too bad. I love hugs. So either learn to love it, or suck it.” I wrap my arms around him tighter.
He tries to get me to let go for a few more seconds before he sighs and gives up, wrapping his arms around my shoulders and giving a quick squeeze before pulling away.
He points a finger at me. “Don’t expect me to spill my guts.”
I grin at him. “Don’t worry. I don’t want you to spill all your deep, dark secrets, just want to see that overgrown puppy Flynn was talking about.”
Adonis rolls his eyes, but I don’t miss the small smile that grows on his lips.
“You look cute when you smile,” I tell him, making his smile grow a bit wider. “You should do it more often.”
“-Medusa’s head still retained it’s power even after her death.” Mr Hardmeat -heheheHAHAHA- finishes. “Any questions?”
I instantly raise my hand but no one else does. I see Adonis raising his eyebrow at me from the corner of my eye.
Mr Hardmeat purses his lips when he sees me. “Any questions at all?”

“Dude!” I wave my hand around. “Right here!”
Mr Hardmeat closes his eyes and sighs before opening them again and looking at me. “Yes, Miss King?”
I grin and put my hand down. “Were Medusa’s leg hairs tiny snakes?”
“No!” Adonis exclaims from beside me, making the whole class turn to face him. He sinks down in his seat when everyone’s eyes focus on him.
“Uh, well,” Mr Hardmeat starts, scratching his chin. “I don’t know.”
I tilt my head slightly. “But aren’t history teachers supposed to know everything about the past?”
He starts getting flustered. “Well, yes”
“So how come you don’t know if Medusa’s legs hairs were tiny snakes?”
“I, well, you see–oh, there’s the bell!” He calls out even though the bell hasn’t rang.
“The bell hasn’t rang yet.” I point out. “And what happened to ‘the bell doesn’t dismiss you, I do“?”
He opens and closes his mouth a few times before huffing. “Class dismissed!”
Everyone rushes to pack up before leaving.
“What the hell was that?” Adonis questions in amusement as he walks out of the classroom beside me.
I grin at him. “I just got us out of class twenty minutes early.”
He blinks at me before a small smirk grows on his face. “Impressive.”
“She does it all the time.” Octavia adds as she walks past us. “Mr Hardmeat gets flustered way too easily.”
I lightly slap Adonis on the cheek.
“What was that for?” He glares at me.
I stick a finger in his face. “I don’t care how freaking hot that smirk is, I want a real smile.”
He rolls his eyes before giving me a wide, overdramatic, sarcastic smile, teeth and all.
I grin. “Cute.”
He chuckles. “I know.”
I laugh. “Where have you been all my life?”
He shrugs as we get to my locker. “New York.”
I shake my head. “Nope, pretty sure you’ve been in my dreams this whole time.”
He turns to me, giving me a genuine smile, dimples popping on both of his cheeks. “That was smooth, Loca.”
“You have dimples?!” I gasp out, poking the dimple on his right cheek. “Dude, marry me!”
