Liam gestured for the staff to place the gifts on a nearby table. They left quietly, leaving him alone with the unsettling pile of presents Serenity had distributed. His dark eyes scanned the room, landing on a crumpled piece of paper partially hidden beneath the gifts. That’s when he noticed a crumpled piece of paper beneath the gifts. He picked it up, intending to discard it, but then the handwriting caught
his eye.
Serenity’s elegant script, mirroring her calm demeanor. Even in the face of hardship, she remained composed. The paper was punctured in several places by a pen. It listed the dates, times, and locations of his affairs with Chloe–nothing more, yet everything was said.
His grip tightened until his knuckles shone white. His phone vibrated violently.
His assistant’s voice was frantic.“Sir, there’s been a leak! Someone printed everything about you and Ms. Chloe and used drones to distribute it across the entire city! Most drones were intercepted, but many people saw it. Shareholders are calling.”
Liam’s grip tightened on the paper, crumpling it.

His black
car roared to life, cutting through the rain like Inside, a startled nurse froze under the intensity of his presence. Without a word, he strode past her, pushing open the door to Chloe’s private room with a resounding crash.
The noise jolted Chloe awake. She sat up, prepared to lash out at the nurse for the disturbance. But her words caught in her throat when she saw Liam.
“Liam!” Her anger instantly transformed into surprise.“What are you doing here?”
She had assumed he would stay with her after their earlier encounter, only to find him leaving again. The thought of him returning to Serenity had gnawed at her, feeding her jealousy. What did Serenity have that Chloe didn’t? Beauty? Style? The ability to bear his child?
She had finally fallen asleep, her thoughts circling her own perceived injustice, only to wake to find Liam standing before her.
Chloe, buoyed, reached out for a hug.
But
instead of an
embrace, his fingers clamped around her neck. Liam’s usually cold eyes blazed with fury. “I told you,” he hissed, his voice low and venomous, “I only love Serenity. Our affair was supposed to be secret. If she found out, we were done! How dare you provoke her?!”
His voice turned icy, his grip tightening. Chloe, pale and tearful, struggled.
“No, I didn’t! Liam, believe me, I never told Serenity!”
He threw her onto the bed, tossing the crumpled paper onto her face.
“You didn’t? Then how did she find out?!”
Chloe unfolded the paper, her face draining of color. She scrambled off the bed, pleading at his feet. She only loved him. She hadn’t expected Serenity to leave.
Liam looked down at her coldly.
“You love me?”
If hadn’t taken advantage of me when I was drunk, none of this would have happened!”
“But I don’t love you. you
