Chloe’s sobs
to came
an
abrupt
halt
as she
stared up at Liam,
her face
frozen in disbelief,
“You don’t love me?”
“Why wouldn’t you love me?!”
She erupted, a raw, desperate scream tearing through the silence. She’d given him her youth, her virginity, her body, and now her child. And he didn’t love her?
Seeing Chloe’s breakdown, Liam was reminded of the woman in the neighboring mansion earlier that day, screaming at her cheating husband.
He bent down, gripping Chloe’s chin so tightly it was on the verge of dislocation.
“What are you?” he spat.“Why would I love you?”
“If Serenity could have children, you’d be dead by now.”
“The moment you climbed into my bed, you should have been prepared to die.”
The memory of that night flashed through Liam’s mind. He’d been at a party, pressured into drinking more than usual. He’d gone to sleep in the guest room to avoid smelling like alcohol around Serenity, who detested it.
But when he woke, Chloe was naked beside him.
Fury and fear surged through him in equal measure. He was senraged that she had dared to orchestrate such a scheme and terrified that Serenity might find out and leave him.
But
parents
called,
urging
him to
have
children.

His with him. pleaded He’d sat in the room, smoking all night. Then, he thought of Chloe. If Serenity couldn’t have children, Chloe could. Once the child was born, he’d offer the Chloe family some benefits in exchange for sending Chloe abroad. The child would be presented as his and Serenity’s. His plan had been working perfectly until now.
Chloe’s hope crumbled at his words. She slumped, her head bowed. She’d assumed he kept her around because of her body. Chloe discovered her father had many other illegitimate children. Her mother only cared about money. Love was a cheap commodity in this world.
Chloe had stopped believing in love, seeing her body as a means to keep Liam. But his kindness, his willingness to abandon me for her, had stirred feelings in her heart. She craved more – his child, his life.
Now, he was cruelly revealing her purpose.
A cold glint entered Liam’s eyes. His voice remained calm and emotionless.
“Get an abortion tomorrow morning.”
Serenity was gone; Chloe’s child was no longer needed.
Chloe looked up, shaking her head.
“No! Liam, you can’t be so heartless. It’s
your child!”
She collapsed, begging him. The child was her lifeline.
Liam ignored her, turning to leave. Chloe, desperate, tried to follow but stumbled, her leg giving way. A gush of blood stained the floor. She writhed in pain, reaching out, her hand slick with blood.
“Liam, don’t go! Please, save our baby!”
She fainted, her hand falling limp, gasping for breath. Regretful tears streamed down her face. If she hadn’t been so greedy, towards Serenity…
Liam stood there, watching her until she lost consciousness. Then, he called the nurse.
“Take her to the operating room. She just needs to survive.”
