Chloe fumed.“Why are you treating me like this? I’m a victim! I was soft–hearted. If I’d known the consequences, I wouldn’t have done it.” She’d stick to the story of passing answers for a friend. Even if punished, she could explain. She couldn’t let them know she’d cheated! Ethan shouted, “Enough! Stop arguing!” His family was a mess.
Ethan said, “Luke, rest. I’ll take them home.” Family issues shouldn’t be aired in public. Luke, worried, got up. “I’ll go home too.”
Luke stepped forward.“Luke, stay here. I’ll watch over you.” He would protect Alice–a form of amends.
