Alice sneered. “Your vanity. You spent millions on this! We won’t even make that much from the auction. You’re insane!”
“Millions?” Ethan was shocked. Is that true?”
“No… not that much. About two million. These things cost money,” Chloe stammered, her guilt. evident.
Ethan wanted to hit her but refrained, considering the guests.

Noah said, “Brother, that’s why I wanted Chloe out. It has nothing to do with Alice. Don’t yell at her without understanding.” Even Noah was speaking up.

Alice said coldly, “Everything needs changing. No more ridicule. And Chloe’s out.”
“Why?” Chloe demanded.
“Chloe, you messed up. Luckily, Alice noticed. Otherwise, the Windhams would be humiliated. Change your clothes; Alice’s in charge.”
Chloe, though resentful, obeyed.
Alice said to Ethan, “If it weren’t for Mom and Dad’s foundation, I wouldn’t bother fixing this. Otherwise, I wouldn’t care.”
She left to manage the situation.
Ethan was furious.“Look how she treats me!”
Brother, you don’t treat her like a sister; don’t blame her.” Noah thought Ethan would regret fávoring Chloe. But it would be too late.

The auction began, and guests arrived. Chloe, in a white dress, appeared reluctantly.“This simple venue will make the Windhams look cheap.”

Mrs. Yates, simply dressed but carrying a designer bag, said coldly, “Call me Mrs. Yates. We’re not close.” She was only here for the Chens.

Alice was surprised to see Mrs. Yates. It must be because of the Chens. She checked the food area, noticing a well–dressed woman looking unwell.“Are you okay? Should I call a doctor?” “I’m fine. It was Mrs. Wilson, whom Alice had met at Jackson’s private hospital. Mrs. Wilson smiled thinly.“It’s you. What are you doing here?” She was here for the auction but recognized Ethan, remembering the accident.
“Helping out.” Alice gave her some lemon water.
Mrs. Wilson felt better.“Are you working part–time here?”
Chloe, strutting in, said to Alice, “What did you do? You removed my luxury desserts. The important guests are here and there’s nothing for them. Shameful!”
Alice said, “Who wants them?”
“Mrs. Yates! She’s the most important guest. Can you afford to offend her? Put them out!” Alice frowned.“Just get them. I’m with this guest; she’s unwell.”
“Alice, are you crazy? Mrs. Yates is the most important. If someone is sick, go to the hospital. Why bother?” Mrs. Wilson said, “Go ahead.” This heiress was bullying a part–timer? Chloe rolled her eyes.“Alice, Big Brother put you in charge. If you offend Mrs. Yates, how will you explain it?”
