Chapter 3
“Alright, alright, dinner’s ready. Let’s go inside.”
Lucas spoke up, breaking the silence.
As we climbed the stairs, Vanessa suddenly screamed and twisted her ankle, her body falling uncontrollably.
Lucas was quick to catch her.
But I, pushed aside by him, fell hard on the stairs.
It hurt.
Tears instantly welled up in my eyes.
When Vanessa steadied herself, Lucas hurried over to help me.
“Violet, are you alright?”
Mrs. Chapman, watching from the side, spoke in a cold tone:
“Anyway, this child isn’t going to survive. If she falls, let her fall.”
“Lucas is supposed to protect Vanessa.”
“After all, Vanessa is carrying the Chapman family’s first grandson.”
“Violet Coleman, don’t let yourself become a jealous woman.”
I’lowered my head and said nothing.
I wasn’t crying because of Lucas; it was because of the pain.
I was helped up.
There was a small puddle of blood on the ground.
I saw the red.
Everyone in the room noticed.
Lucas was the first to react. His face changed, and he quickly ran to the car.

Chapter 3
Vanessa pretended to care and came to help me.
“Violet, are you alright?”
“Lucas, you go ahead, I’ll watch over Violet, she’ll be fine.”
Once Lucas left, she leaned into my ear and whispered, in a voice only I could hear
“Sister, everything you have is mine.”
“Your life, the man you love, and the child you’re carrying, you won’t get to take any of it.
“You don’t know, do you? My child is a stillbirth. I heard Lucas say he wants to switch your child with
mine.”
I stared in shock
So, Vanessa knew everything already!
She seemed to enjoy the expression on my face and continued:
“Sister, did you think Lucas really married you because he had a secret crush on you for years?”
“He’s just a simp. For my happiness, he didn’t care about marrying someone he didn’t love.”
“I shed a few tears to show my longing for a child, and he immediately thought of this clever solution for
me.”
The pain in my body and the anger in my heart swelled up.
In a fit of rage, I slapped Vanessa across the face.
“You’re shameless.”
Vanessa’s face was filled with shock.
“You dare hit me?”
She tried to slap me back.
But her body was much weaker than mine, and even though I was in pain, I stopped her.
I raised my hand to slap her again, but my arm was stopped halfway in the air.
Lucas caught my wrist and stood in front of Vanessa.

“Violet, if you still have the strength to hit someone, I guess you don’t need me to give you a ride. You cas walk on your own, right?
Mrs. Chapman shot me a nasty glare before following Lucas into the car.
The car quickly disappeared, leaving me alone, stumbling toward the hospita
It was at least a half–hour walk to the hospital.
I couldn’t hold on and fainted halfway.
When I woke up again, I found myself lying on the operating table.
The sound of a baby crying reached my ears.
In addition, a strange man’s voice was repeatedly calling my name.
“Miss Coleman! Miss Coleman!”
I struggled to open my eyes and saw the doctor from the office, the one who had talked with Lucas.
I’tensed up and covered my stomach.
“What do you want to do?”
He leaned down, coming close to my ear, and whispered softly:
“Miss Coleman, the fake death service you arranged with me a few days ago–should we proceed with it now? This is a perfect opportunity.”
I was stunned.
“You… you’re the one who offered me the fake death service?”

“Aren’t you Lucas’s person?”
The doctor nodded, then shook his head.
“Yes, I’m the one handling the fake death service for you, you can call me Dr. Allen. But I’m not from Chapman’s family. He’s just the family member of one of my patients.”
I lay on the operating table, staring blankly at the ceiling
Outside, I heard Lucas’s voice.
“How is it?”
Dr. Allen gave me a look and walked out the door.
“Everything is ready, Mr. Chapman. If we are confirming the induction shot, please sign here.”
The sound of writing came, and Lucas signed immediately.
Later, I heard the sound of the baby crying and heard Dr. Allen shouting that the patient was bleeding heavily and running out of the operating room.
Everything went smoothly from start to finish. Lucas didn’t even come in to check on me.
My fake death plan had no chance of being exposed.
Dr. Allen helped me find a body in the morgue.
The corpse was an orphan, both of its parents had died.
Dr. Allen took me out the back door, unharmed.
