He thought I had silently admitted it, and with a breakdown, he shouted:
“Violet! I haven’t agreed to divorce with you yet!”
“You started planning the divorce when you were in the hospital, right? I threw away that divorce agreement, so don’t even think about it!”
“You can’t marry anyone else! That’s bigamy!”
At that moment, Dr. Allen came out holding the umbrella.
Frowning, he saw Lucas and immediately shielded me behind him.
“Mr. Chapman, please show some respect.”
Dr. Allen was unrelenting. Now that Lucas had no power or influence, we didn’t need to be afraid of him.
Dr. Allen protected me as we got in the car, but Lucas still chased after us.
He looked much thinner, and his spirit didn’t seem well.
Through the rearview mirror, I saw him fall to the ground as he was running, motionless.
Soon, our car drove off, and he disappeared from the mirror.
The day after I found a place to stay, I returned to the office.
I nervously knocked on the door to my boss’s office.
I’wasn’t sure if Gabriel would let me come back, so I planned to request to return, hand over my work, and then resign properly.
“Come in,” Gabriel’s familiar voice called out, but this time, it was tinged with exhaustion.
“G–Good morning, Mr. Ferrara.”
Gabriel froze, his eyes wide with disbelief as he stared at me.
I smiled awkwardly, feeling embarrassed.
“Gabriel, I’m sorry. I think I should come back to properly hand over my work before resigning, instead of leaving so abruptly.”

He picked up his pen, then set it down again, repeating the motion several times. Finally, he tossed it aside, turned away, and snorted coldly.
“Glad you understand. Now that you’ve had enough rest, get back to work. You left a mountain of tasks
with no one to take care of them.”
At this time, a colleague suddenly ran into the office in a hurry.
“Violet, your Ex–husband is here, he’s making a scene and wants to see you, otherwise he won’t leave
easily.”
“Sorry boss, I’ll take care of it right away.”
I bowed my head in apology to Gabrielle and quickly went to the company’s main floor immediately after.
Lucas suddenly appeared from somewhere and unexpectedly kneeled in front of me.
This time, he was holding a baby in his arms.
“Violet, I know you hate me, but I really know I was wrong!”
He pushed the child toward me.
“Violet, look, this is our child!”
Seeing that I wasn’t responding, Lucas continued:
“Violet, is it because Dr.Allen exaggerated things that you’re unwilling to forgive me?”

After he finished speaking, I laughed.
I was hearing for the first time that Vanessa had been kicked out, but so what? I had no desire to retur to that family, and I didn’t want to recognize my parents either.
I was about to tell him that the child wasn’t his and that he should give up.
I miscarried his child, and the baby that was switched with Vanessa’s was a stranger’s infant.

“He has women in his overseas estate! The day I went to find him and ask about you. He said it himsel

I was amazed at his imagination. Just as I was about to speak, an uncouth woman suddenly rushed out and slapped Lucas in the face.

It was Madam Chapman.
Before Madam Chapman could speak, Lucas hurriedly said, “Mom, please don’t be angry, let me explain

“The one Vanessa gave birth to was a stillborn. Your grandson is Violet’s child.*
After hearing this, Madam Chapman’s expression didn’t improve.
She glanced at me, then at Lucas.

“Today the hospital gave the result. This child has no blood relationship with Chapman family at all! So it can’t possibly be your child!”
Lucas was stunned.
He looked at me, then at the child in his arms.
“This can’t be…”
Madam Chapman took a deep breath and calmed herself down.
“Enough, Lucas, give this bastard back to her and come home with me.”
“Vanessa, that woman has caused havoc in our family, married the younger brother, and seduced the older brother. She’s been expelled from the family. When you go back, you and your brother should reconcile. A family shouldn’t be torn apart by one woman.”

However, Lucas didn’t follow Madam Chapman.
He turned and looked at me.
“Violet, come back with me. I don’t mind. I can raise you and this child.”
I shrugged.
“When did I ever admit that this child is mine?”
“My child has already been miscarried.”
Lucas froze.
