Chapter3
She frowned unhappily and heard a magnetic voice.“I’m sorry.”
In the darkness, Valerie kept her eyes closed, but her long eyelashes fluttered slightly.
“Let’s go to get the marriage license tomorrow morning, okay?” Terrence asked in a low voice.
But the next second, his phone by the bedside buzzed.
Terrence immediately let go of Valerie. He picked up the call and said to the person on the other end of the phone in a gentle tone, “Don’t cry. I’ll be there right away…”
Valerie listened to the sound of him getting dressed behind her and silently chuckled.
Then, she turned on the bedside lamp and said to Terrence, who was walking towards the door, “Terrence, don’t go…”
But Terrence didn’t stop in his tracks.
He turned around, opened the door, and strode away.
Listening to his leaving footsteps, Valerie smiled bitterly. A tear slid down from the corner of her eye.
The next day, after Valerie woke up, she saw Terrence’s assistant, Theodore Schaefer, in the living room.
“Ms. Schwartz, these are gifts to you from Mr. Crawford.”
As Theodore spoke, he pointed at a row of jewelry on the table.
Valerie nodded and responded indifferently.
Theodore’s eyes flashed with astonishment.
After all, every time Terrence gave Valerie a gift, Valerie would be overjoyed.
Theodore had never seen such a cold and indifferent reaction from Valerie before.
“Then I’ll be off now.”
Theodore had strong sense of professional ethics. He didn’t ask about the reasons behind Valerie’s unusual reactions and left directly. Valerie looked at the shimmering jewelry on the table expressionlessly.
She knew that these things were definitely chosen by Theodore.
Terrence had never apologized to her with sincerity.
But anyway, she no longer had any expectations for him.
So she wouldn’t feel hurt.
Suddenly, a message popped up on her phone screen.
Margaret texted, “Have you received the gifts that Terry sent you? You must thank me properly. If it weren’t for me persuading Terry to apologize and give you some gifts, he wouldn’t do anything!”
