Chapter64
Valerie laughed, her expression filled with mockery and amusement.
Terrence didn’t like it.
His brows furrowed.“What are you laughing at?”
“You don’t need to waste your efforts because this candlelight dinner is never going to happen.”
Terrence rubbed his temples. “Can you just talk normally?”
“Am I not talking normally?” Valerie met his eyes, a hint of playfulness at the corner of hers.“Terrence, how about we make a bet?”
Terrence asked, “What bet?”
“You prepared a candlelight dinner, didn’t you? Let’s go tomorrow. If we can finish the meal without interruptions, I will agree to one request from you.
“But if you leave midway, you will have to agree to one request from me.”
Terrence barely took a second to consider before replying, “Okay.”
For him, this was no challenge at all.
He did not even understand why Valerie would suggest such a meaningless bet.
But if she was willing to talk to him, that was already a step forward.
After dinner, Valerie rode back to Foliage Villa in Terrence’s car.
As he watched Valerie, who got out of the car looking obedient, a moment of daze flashed through Terrence’s mind.
It was as if nothing had changed.
As if she was still the same Valerie from before…
Maybe… She really had not changed….
-Maybe she still loved him. Otherwise, why would she come back with him?
With that thought, the deep crease in Terrence’s brow eased slightly.
When they reached the second–floor bedroom…
Valerie stepped inside and immediately shut the door behind her.
Behind her, Terrence braced himself against the door.“Valerie!”
Valerie said, “I am going to sleep.”
Terrence almost laughed out of frustration.“I know you are going to sleep. I am, too.”
Valerie’s hand remained firmly on the doorknob.“Your room is next door.”
Her stance was unwavering. She had no intention of letting him in.
Terrence raised an eyebrow.“Valerie, is this really necessary? You used to be dying to have me in your room.”
His words drained all the color from Valerie’s face.
That was true.
