Chapter88
Manu
Valerie’s hand fell silently.
She closed her long eyelashes, and a tear slid down.
After a while, she opened her eyes and looked at the warm yellow lamp on the table. The thought of leaving Houston grew stronger.
The next day.
Valerie didn’t go downstairs until she heard Terrence’s car drive away.
There was breakfast prepared for her.
The servants were no longer perfunctory as they had been.
As Kyra served Valerie breakfast, she noticed that Valerie’s face was expressionless.
She was quite anxious.
Kyra was present the whole time when Margaret came over yesterday.
Terrence stood up for Valerie, which truly surprised her.
Although Kyra didn’t know why Terrence would do such a thing, she did not want to become the next scapegoat. After all, she was just a servant.
Valerie ignored Kyra, who was secretly watching her, and left after breakfast.
The moment she left Houston, the police might have known it through her ID.
Besides, after Makenzie’s apology, the whole of Houston, not to say a hundred percent, probably at least seventy to eighty percent, knew her.
Terrence didn’t need to put a tracker on her at all.
Sure enough.
Valerie just got to the place where she promised to meet the private detective, and many people were looking at her with different expressions.
But no one dared to step forward.
“I thought you wouldn’t come.” The private detective was a young man in his early twenties, with a student–like demeanor. He was quite good–looking, with a delicate appearance. However, the suit he was wearing didn’t fit him well, indicating that it was either rented or borrowed.
Valerie discreetly averted her gaze and introduced herself, “I’m Valerie Schwartz.”
The private detective raised an eyebrow and said, “I’m Kent Walls.”
