Chapter 36
With that, Hailey turned to Owen and asked, “Do you have any food ingredients here?”
Owen replied, “No, how about 1 accompany you to the supermarket?”
Christopher pursed his lips, glanced at Owen, and decided not to mention that the maid had bought some ingredients yesterday.
“Alright,” Hailey said, looking at Christopher. “Then I’ll go to the supermarket with Owen first. What kind of dishes would you like?”
Christopher said, “I’m not picky; anything is fine.”
Hailey’s eyebrows and eyes curved into a smile. “Not being picky is a sign of a good kid.”
Christopher was silent for a few seconds, always feeling that this statement was a bit strange.
“Okay, let’s go then,” Hailey said, grabbing Owen’s hand.
The two of them left the villa together.
After soaking his feet, Christopher lay in bed thinking for a while before it suddenly dawned on him that what Hailey just said sounded so much like something said to a son.
Owen’s villa was in a rather remote area, so there were no large supermarkets nearby. Not far away, there was only a small
one.
Since the distance was not far, the two of them went there

The weather in October was neither cold nor hot. It was already five o’clock in the afternoon, and the gentle breeze on people’s faces was especially comfortable.
Hailey was led by Owen. His palm was wide and warm, giving her an extraordinary sense of security.
Although she didn’t know what the future held, at least for now, she was happy and blissful in this relationship.
There weren’t many people in the supermarket.
Owen pushed the shopping cart while Hailey focused on picking out ingredients. After choosing the ingredients, she went on to buy some fruits.
She thought she hadn’t bought much, but when she turned around, the shopping cart was full.
“Did we buy too much?” she asked with a bite of her lip, looking somewhat distressed.
Owen gazed at her gently, reached out his hand, pinched her little face, and smiled indulgently. “It’s okay. If we can’t finish it all, we can put it in the fridge. I’ll keep it for later. Being thrifty is a virtue.”
Hailey smiled slightly with pursed lips.
“Or, there’s another way,” Owen said, looking at her with darkened eyes and a slight curl at the corner of his mouth, lowering his voice. “If you move in with me, we won’t have to worry about finishing all of them.”
Hailey’s face visibly blushed. She rolled her eyes at Owen, ignored him, and turned back to continue shopping.

Chapter 36
After they finished shopping, Owen was about to check out when he saw something through the small mirror above the
cashier.
He handed his wallet to Hailey with a gentle expression. “Hailey, you go check out. If it’s too heavy to carry, just put it on the floor, I need to use the restroom on the second floor.”
Hailey nodded.
Owen then left the cashier and went directly to the second floor.
At the corner of the second–floor stairs, a man wearing a black mask sensed that something was wrong and tried to run.
Owen acted quickly, rushed forward, and kicked him.
Since there were very few people in the supermarket and no one was around on the second floor to get alarmed or stop him, the man was kicked to the floor.
Just as he was about to call out for help, Owen covered his mouth and dragged him into the restroom.
In front of others, Owen was cold and aloof, but in front of Hailey, he was gentle. At this moment, however, his eyes were full of fierceness, and his icy gaze made one shiver.
He yanked off the man’s mask. Beneath it was an extremely ordinary face.
“Who sent you?” Owen asked in a deep voice, his face dark.
The man was kicked senseless, feeling like his chest had been kicked in. “No… no one sent me.” He stubbornly insisted.
“I’m giving you a chance to speak. Do you really think I can’t find out?” Owen sneered, lifting his long leg and stepping hard on the man’s chest.
The man struggled with a painful expression but finally spoke up, “It was Miss Jeanie Gibbs.”
“What did she tell you to do?”
“She told me to follow Miss Dalton, find a chance to drug her, kidnap her, and then…” The man hesitated for a moment.
Owen pressed down harder on his foot.
“Then find a few men to… and also take photos as leverage to make Miss Dalton leave you.” The man confessed everything, “That’s all, Mr. Calhoun. Please spare my life.”
After hearing this, Owen’s face turned even colder. “How much did she pay you?”
“300 thousand dollars.”
“I’ll give you 1.5 million dollars. Do what she asked you to Hailey to her.” Owen’s voice was cold and ruthless.
The man was stunned for a few seconds, then he gratefully said, “Thank you, Mr. Calhoun. Thank you.”
“I’m not finished yet.” Owen bent down, looking at the man from above. “After you finish, turn yourself in to the police for the kidnapping, understand?”
The man naturally didn’t want to do it, but with the big boss in front of him, he had no choice but to agree with a pained expression.
Owen then left the restroom.
At the supermarket entrance, Hailey had been waiting for several minutes.

Chapter 36
Owen hurried downstairs, transforming from his violent and cold self to his gentle persona. “Hailey, did you wait long
“Not too long, my arms are just a bit sore,” she said somewhat reproachfully, looking down at the bags she was carrying,
They were too heavy, and the plastic bags were cutting into her hands.
Owen took the bags with one hand and massaged Hailey’s palm with the other at proper strength.
“Is everything handled?” Hailey casually asked.
Owen was very sensitive and immediately noticed that something was off with Hailey’s words. “You knew it?
Hailey looked up at him and smiled. “He followed me all the way. I noticed it a long time ago
Owen looked at her calmly and asked, “Why aren’t you blaming me for lying to you?”
“Because I know you were afraid for me to worry and didn’t want me to see this side of you. So, as you wish,” she said sweetly.
The golden sunlight shone on her face, making her extraordinarily lively and charming.
Owen’s
eyes
darkened. ‘She’s such a good girl and understanding; even without me saying it, she can understand
“Hailey, close your eyes,” he suddenly said.
Hailey closed her eyes.
The next second, Owen pulled her into his arms and lowered his head to kiss her lips.
Kissing at the supermarket entrance, Hailey felt shy. She wished she could disappear. ‘This is too sudden!”
But at this moment, Owen didn’t give her a chance to speak.
She didn’t even dare to raise her head. She walked through the path with her head buried in his arms.
Hailey regretted not driving out.
It wasn’t until they were far away from the supermarket entrance that she emerged from Owen’s arms. As soon as she did, she met Owen’s smiling gaze.
“It’s all your fault. There were so many people at the supermarket entrance. How could you do that?” Hailey complained. Owen smiled slightly and looked down. “Something was blocking beside us just now. No one saw us.”
