Hailey spoke up, her tone measured. “Carter, if Miles wants to make a career change, his first project is crucial. A romance drama wouldn’t be out of the question, but once he starts down that path, the scripts that come your way will likely all follow the same genre. You know better than anyone how hard it’ll be for him to break out of that mold later on.”
Carter nodded, clearly understanding.
That was true. With Miles‘ looks, he was practically made to be the lead in a romance drama. Who would cast him in anything else?
“So, instead of starting him off with romance dramas and trying to shift later, why not have him start with a serious role?” Hailey suggested.
Carter paused for a moment, lost in thought. He thought, ‘He had considered it as well, but…
Carter looked at Hailey with a conflicted expression and said, “Miss Dalton, you might not know this, but Miles has never acted before, so his acting skills…”
Carter thought, ‘With a serious role, his lack of acting skill would be obvious to everyone. And with Miles‘ terrible acting, he’d be torn apart by critics.
Miles immediately bristled. “Are you even still my manager? Since when does a manager complain about their client’s acting skills?”
Carter had been working with Miles for years and knew how to handle him. He shot Miles a look. “You think your acting is that great? You couldn’t even make it through a music video without pulling the audience out of the story. What else do you think you can act in?”
Miles pouted, feeling wronged. “Well, it’s not my fault. The actress was just so unattractive, I couldn’t get into it.”
“You’ve got a nerve!” The manager was fuming, his frustration practically visible.
“Alright,” Hailey said, rubbing her temples in exasperation. “Carter, you don’t need to worry about his acting. I have faith in Miles. If you’re happy with the script, we can sign, and I’ll take care of the rest.”
Hailey wasn’t overconfident. Having lived through her past life, she knew Miles had potential. With the right script and a good director, he could truly shine.
“Well…” Carter hesitated.
This script was far better than the typical romance dramas, and the offer was fair–there was no discount just because of their friendship. It was the industry standard rate.
If it weren’t for his concerns about Miles‘ acting, Carter would have signed without hesitation. But as his manager–and, well, like a father figure–he couldn’t ignore his worries.
“Miles, are you sure you want to do this?” he asked, still uncertain.
“Yes!” Miles replied, his trust in Hailey unwavering.
Hailey couldn’t help but smile. She thought, ‘I love that determination in Miles.
Carter gritted his teeth, signed the contract, and stamped it.
After stamping it, he suddenly remembered something. “By the way, who’s playing the female lead?”
Hailey lifted her gaze and smiled lightly. “It’s Trix.”

“Ugh,” Miles muttered under his breath.

Miles looked at Hailey with a steely gaze, teeth clenched in frustration. “Why didn’t you say that sooner? She’s my sworn enemy!”
Hailey casually took both contracts, signed her name with ease, and handed one to him while keeping the other for herself. She smiled, her eyes twinkling. “I only paired you two together because I knew you were rivals. It’ll make things interesting
“As long as you’re not worried about us fighting on set, then do what you want.” The contracts were signed, and there was nothing more to say. Miles had no choice but to accept the situation.
Hailey stood up, gave Miles a reassuring pat on the shoulder, and headed for the door. “Don’t worry, you won’t be able to beat her.”
Miles stood frozen for a few seconds, then noticing the amused expression on his manager’s face, he realized something was off about what Hailey had just said.
“What do you mean I won’t be able to beat her?”
Hailey shut the door behind her with a snap, heading straight for the next room.
The atmosphere in this room was the complete opposite of Miles‘–tense and filled with a sense of urgency.
“Suzanne, do you think I’m dressed too casually? What if the author of River doesn’t like me because of it?” Trix asked, wearing a simple white jacket and jeans.
Suzanne smiled and reassured Trix, “Don’t worry, Miss Guerrero. The author of River isn’t the type to judge by appearances.”
Despite the reassurance, Trix still felt the sweat bead up from the nervous tension.
Moments later, Hailey pushed open the door to the room. “Sorry to keep you waiting.”
All three people in the room turned to look at her.
Trix and her manager were both stunned. They wondered, ‘This young girl? She must have walked into the wrong room.
However, Hailey greeted Suzanne with complete ease and familiarity before casually sitting down next to them.
“Ms. Guerrero, it’s a pleasure to meet you finally. I’ve watched your performances, and I truly admire you,” Hailey said, extending her hand with a warm smile.
Trix wasn’t strikingly beautiful, but she had a quiet, lasting charm. Her delicate features and large, round eyes gave her à youthful appeal. She had recently cut her hair short for a period drama, and now it rested just at her neck. The short hair gave her a sharp, confident look, while her wide eyes and soft expression made her appear endearingly sweet, almost like a mischievous, playful kitten.
Trix stood frozen for a moment before she nervously reached out to shake Hailey’s hand.
After a long pause, Trix couldn’t help but ask, “Are you… the author of River?” She thought, ‘She’s so young? She can an adult yet! If this gets out, the fans will go wild! Who would believe that the author of such a masterpiece isn’t some middle–aged man but a young girl who’s barely an adult?‘

Hailey gave a calm nod and smiled. “Suzanne has always been my editor, and she’s the one who’s handled a lot of things on my behalf. Because of my age, I’ve never made a public appearance. I must’ve surprised you.”
Trix couldn’t help but swallow nervously and quickly shook her head. “No, no, I just didn’t expect you to be so young.”
Her manager marveled, “At such a young age, with so much talent, you’re bound to do incredible things in the future.”

“You’re too kind,” Hailey replied, her expression calm and composed. Even when praised, she remained unflustered, neither arrogant nor eager. Her poise and grace were truly impressive.
“I’ve heard that your work Thrilling Suspense is being adapted. So, may I ask what the purpose of this meeting is?” the manager asked cautiously.
The manager thought, ‘With the adaptation of Thrilling Suspense coming up and the author personally inviting their artist –it’s obvious what she wants! She must be aiming for Trix to play the lead. If Trix gets the role, her fame and influence will definitely skyrocket!‘
Hailey felt a bit embarrassed. “I’m sorry, though I reached out under the name of River, the project I want to discuss with you isn’t Thrilling Suspense.”
“Huh? What does that mean?” the manager asked, clearly confused.
Hailey handed the script for The Moon in My Heart to the manager. “This project will be launched by Dalton Group next March. I’ll be overseeing it entirely, and I sincerely hope Miss Guerrero will take on the lead role.”
