The script was promising. Yet, Trix couldn’t quite grasp what Hailey meant by being fully responsible for it.
“Are you with Dalton Group Entertainment?
I’m Hailey Dalton, the second daughter of the Dalton family, she introduced herself confidently.
Trix and her manager couldn’t help but gasp in surprise.
Though they weren’t part of high society circles, they had heard a few rumors about Hailey- how she was brought back from the countryside, a simple country girl.

“I’ll take the script, Trix said decisively.
No matter who Hailey was in the Dalton family, just the fact that she was the author of River was enough for Trix to take the role—even if the script turned out to be a cheesy, melodramatic romance.
The negotiations with Trix went smoothly, and after the contract was signed, Hailey didn’t have to worry about any further details. All Hailey had to do next was cast the remaining key roles and choose an auspicious date to announce the start of production.
By 8 PM, Hailey and Suzanne finally left the private room.
It had been a long time since they last caught up, and after discussing work, they hadn’t had the chance to relax. Since they were close in age, they decided to head to a bar for some fun.
The two of them left in a car.
Neither of them noticed that as soon as they left, a group of people emerged from the restaurant.
At the front of the group was a man in a perfectly tailored black suit, his build impressive, with a chillingly composed aura that commanded attention.
It was none other than Owen.
He paused at the door, his gaze briefly landing on the spot where Hailey and Suzanne had gotten into the car. His lips curved ever so slightly.
Owen thought, ‘Suzanne leaves school but doesn’t go home, instead meeting with people from River… and they seemed so close. It’s hard not to read into it‘
“Mr. Calhoun, please reconsider,” a man pleaded, still desperately trying to convince him. “This project is a great opportunity. All I need is three million dollars in investment, and I guarantee you’ll make a huge profit.” Seeing that Owen had stopped, the man thought there might still be a chance and quickly grabbed his sleeve.
Owen glanced down slightly, his eyes darkening with a cold edge.
“Mr. Clark,” Owen’s voice was low and chilling, “I’m not turning you down because your project isn’t good.”
Mr. Clark blinked, caught off guard.
“Last month, your son saw a girl at The Velvet Lounge. She was willing to sell her talent but not her body. In the end, your son killed her. You covered it up with money, didn’t you?” The words dropped softly but carried a chilling weight.

Mr. Clark froze, his body stiffening in shock.
Owen took advantage of Mr. Clark’s moment of hesitation and walked off, unbuttoning his suit jacket as he casually tossed it to Richard. “Throw it away.”
Richard stared at the jacket and thought, ‘Mr. Calhoun’s obsessive cleanliness is unbelievable. But for some reason, he looks especially handsome today despite his usual picky and difficult nature!
In the car, Owen made a call. “Have your men keep an eye out. Hailey might be at a bar. If you see her, call me immediately.”
Ivan couldn’t hold back a laugh from the other end of the line, “She cheating on you?”
Owen snapped, “Shut up.”
The call ended, and Ivan burst into laughter.
“Mr. Gibbs, what’s got you so amused? Come on, share the joke with us,” one of the men asked, grinning.
At that moment, Ivan was at the bar, surrounded by a few beautiful women and several wealthy young men nearby. He cast a playful glance at one of them, a smirk tugging at his lips as he lazily drawled, “I could tell you, but you wouldn’t dare laugh at this guy’s misfortune.”
The young man who had asked the question immediately realized who Ivan was talking about and quickly quieted down. He thought, ‘Who would dare cross with Mr. Calhoun?‘
‘Stirring up trouble with a few rich kids is one thing, but challenging Mr. Calhoun could cost you everything. After all, Owen is in a league of his own. We’re just privileged kids living for the moment. But Owen? He’s a powerhouse in the business world.‘
The mention of Owen made the room fall into an unexpected silence.
Ivan was unfazed as he stood up. “Enjoy yourselves. I’m heading to the restroom.”
As he stepped out of the room, Ivan was about to make a call. He glanced down and noticed two girls entering through the bar’s front door on the ground floor.
One wore a white jacket, her delicate features striking and effortlessly captivating. At the same time, the other was dressed in a red coat, playfully adorned with a circle of strawberries–utterly embodying youthful charm.
It was Hailey and Casey.
She had initially come with Suzanne, but Suzanne had to leave early due to an urgent matter.
Well, they were already here, so why not make the most of it? Hailey had decided to give Casey a call to enjoy the night together.
Conveniently, her friend was nearby and about to head home when Hailey called. Without a second thought, she canceled her plans and chose to join Hailey instead.
With a subtle smile playing on his lips, Ivan spun his phone in his hand, took a quick picture, and sent it to Owen.
Though Owen rarely went to bars, he was familiar with the places Ivan frequented. It only took him a moment to recognize the location from the photo.
“Head to Romance and Elegance,” he said coldly.
Richard paused, caught off guard. “Aren’t we going home, Mr. Calhoun?”

“Hey, lady, what’s your name? Let me buy you a drink, Solomon said, leaning in and resting a hand on the back of Casey’s chair. His smile was slimy, and he casually gestured to the waiter with a look that he thought was charming. “Whiskey.”
Hailey’s eyes grew cold, and she was just about to step in when, out of nowhere, a strong, precise hand reached out from behind her. It grabbed Solomon’s finger and twisted it backward.
“Ouch, ouch, ouch… Solomon’s face twisted in pain, and cold sweat instantly beaded on his forehead.
