Chapter 11
Her voice escalated to near–shouting levels, her emotional state spiraling visibly out of control.
The assembled guests – Manhattan’s elite power players – exchanged uncomfortable glances as the scene unfolded like a reality show meltdown playing out in real time.
Dante’s expression remained arctic, though something complicated flickered behind his eyes.
“Jesus Christ, Wolf,” Jason hissed urgently, “say something! This is getting completely out of hand!”
But Dante maintained his unnerving silence.
Tears finally spilled down Darcy’s face, smearing her perfect makeup. “Dante Wolf, do you have feelings for her or not? Just tell me! Look around – they’re all saying it’s just one simple sentence. But you won’t say it. Do you know why you can’t say it?”
Dante’s eyes narrowed almost imperceptibly. Finally, he spoke, his voice dangerously low. “Darcy, are you done with this spectacle?”
She ignored his question entirely, pressing harder. “Not even close! I’m just getting started! Answer me! If you don’t have feelings for her, why spend millions on this party? Why orchestrate all this? Why protect her even at your own expense?”
Dante’s expression darkened further, genuine anger flashing in his eyes.
He seized her wrist, his grip tight enough to make her wince. “Don’t push me, Darcy,” he warned, his voice barely audible.
But Darcy was beyond caution. “Don’t push you?” she spat. “You’ve pushed me to this! I’ve loved you for nearly a decade while you lavish attention on a woman you claim is just a pawn! Do you even
have a heart?”
Her voice reverberated through the venue – sharp, accusatory, cutting through the stunned silence
like a blade.
Each accusation struck something deep within Dante. His composed exterior remained intact, but internally, her words were battering against walls he’d carefully constructed. Walls that had begun
to crack the moment Rosalie entered his life.

“You’re pathetic, Dante,” Darcy continued, her voice dropping to a venomous whisper everyone strained to hear. “You’re so deeply in love with her that you can’t even admit it to yourself. What kind of coward are you? Too afraid to acknowledge real feelings? Too weak to admit you’ve fallen for your enemy’s sister?”
Dante’s jaw tightened imperceptibly.
“You don’t deserve love,” Darcy hissed as security approached. “Not hers, not anyone’s. And you’ll end up losing everything because you’re too much of a coward to be honest–even with yourself.”
As security escorted her away, she delivered one final blow: “Your precious revenge plan? It’s
already failed. Because you fell for your own trap!”
Dante’s face remained impassive, but something behind his eyes was fracturing.
After Darcy’s dramatic exit, the venue fell into uncomfortable silence.
His friends exchanged nervous glances before Tyler finally spoke up. “Wolf, what the hell was that about? You could have shut her down with one sentence. Why let her create that scene?”
“Seriously, man-” Marcus began.
Dante’s eyes flashed dangerously. “First her interrogation, now yours? The guest of honor will be here any minute. Do you want Rosalie to see you all hounding me like this?”
His tone silenced them immediately.
“Speaking of which,” Tyler muttered, checking his watch, “Rosalie’s really late. Shouldn’t she be here
by now?”
Dante frowned, the realization hitting him as well. A wave of unease washed over him.
Tyler was right – she should have arrived long ago.
Had something happened?
He pulled out his phone to call her.
When the screen lit up, a notification caught his eye. An unread message. His finger hesitated before tapping it open. His eyes fixed on the screen:
Chapter 11
[It’s over. I don’t love you anymore.]
In that moment, something cracked within Dante Wolf’s carefully constructed facade. His fingers trembled slightly as he stared at the screen, unable to process what he was seeing
With shaking hands, he typed a response, only to discover he’d been blocked.
He dialed her number, heart pounding with an unfamiliar anxiety. The automated voice response was immediate: “The customer you are trying to reach has their phone turned off or is outside the coverage area.”
Refusing to accept this, he called again. And again. Each time, the same robotic message echoed in
his ear.
She was on a plane?!
A flood of memories crashed through him–her smile the first time they’d met, the way she’d looked at him with complete trust, the sound of her laughter. Moments he’d told himself were simply steps in his plan. Steps that had somehow become the most important parts of his day.
He remembered his friends‘ suspicious questions: “Have you actually fallen for her?” He remembered his own vehement denials. He remembered Darcy’s accusations just minutes ago: “You’re so deeply in love with her that you can’t even admit it to yourself.”
The cold mask he’d worn for so long began to crack. For the first time in years, genuine emotion showed on Dante Wolf’s face–confusion, panic, and something that looked disturbingly like
heartbreak.
Something was clawing its way up from inside him, something he’d been denying for months, maybe years. An uncomfortable truth trying to break free.
“Wolf! What’s wrong?” Marcus’s voice snapped him back to reality, momentarily pushing the
revelation back down.
His friends, noticing his reaction, crowded around. “Seriously, what are you waiting for?” Jason added. “Call her again! This party’s been one disaster after another.”
They peered over his shoulder at his phone screen, catching sight of the breakup text.
“Breakup? What the hell? ‘Don’t love you anymore‘? Wasn’t she completely obsessed with you? How does this come out of nowhere?” Tyler exclaimed.
