I stood by the chairs near the lawn, watching my husband and his mistress taking maternity photos in the park, their intimacy stinging like a sharp knife.
Ever since my miscarriage, it felt like I’d been trapped in that moment, unable to move forward.
Sleepless nights haunted me.
I often woke up crying from dreams of the child I never got to hold.
Back then, Ryan seemed to feel a trace of guilt.
He’d gently pat my back, murmuring empty words of comfort.
But even his sympathy was tainted–he subtly implied the loss was because my body was too weak.
That guilt almost destroyed me.

“It’s fine,” Ryan replied casually, tossing his phone aside.
“Let’s just order something new. Don’t throw the old stuff away though–I’ll take it home.”
Linda looked concerned. “But what if it makes you sick?”
Ryan chuckled dismissively. “I’ll just give it to Sophia. She’ll be thrilled I brought her something.”
A wave of nausea washed over me.
Thrilled? What gave him the audacity to think I’d be happy eating his leftovers?
I held up my phone and captured their cozy scene, saving the pictures as evidence.
Every flirtatious glance, every provocative word Linda had ever sent me they were all documented.
These would all come to light in our divorce proceedings.
Ryan would leave with nothing.
“Alright, darling,” Linda said, planting a light kiss on Ryan’s cheek.
“But you know, more than maternity photos, what I really want is a wedding album.”
“Of course, baby,” Ryan reassured her. “I’ve already asked my assistant to start planning the ceremony. Once you’ve had the baby and Sophia delivers hers, I’ll send her to a ‘wellness center‘ to recover. After that, you’ll be the bride every woman envies.”

Her eyes darted toward me, gleaming with triumph.
She knew I was watching and relished the moment.
Thunder rumbled overhead as dark clouds rolled in.
A fierce gust of wind swept through the park, and rain began to fall.
As they kissed, a bolt of lightning struck the ground alarmingly close to them.
Both jumped back in shock, their smugness dissolving into panic.
I couldn’t help but laugh.
It seemed even the heavens couldn’t tolerate their antics.
I dialed Ryan again.
If he wouldn’t answer, I’d keep calling until he did.
Finally, with an exasperated sigh, he picked up.
“What now?” he snapped. “Didn’t I tell you I’m busy? Can’t you be a little more understanding?”
“Are you going to complain about your morning sickness again?”
He continued, his tone dripping with irritation.
“Every pregnant woman deals with it. Why are you so dramatic? Stop acting sick just to get my
attention!”
His words were followed by a burst of laughter in the background… It was Linda’s laughter.
“Oh my god,” she exclaimed. “The rumors are true! Your wife actually pretends to be sick to guilt–trip you? That’s insane!”
The rain poured down, heavy and relentless, but my voice cut through it, steady and clear.
“I want a divorce, Ryan,” I said coldly. “Tomorrow at 10 a.m., meet me at the courthouse. That’s all I have to say. If you don’t show up, you’ll regret it.”
For the first time, I hung up on him, turned around, and walked away.
The rain soaked through my clothes, chilling me to the bone.
Just as I thought I’d be drenched completely, an umbrella appeared above my head.

“Sophia,” Ethan said gently, his voice full of concern. “Are you okay?”
My lips trembled as I tried to hold back tears, but they came anyway, warm against the cold rain.
“I’m fine, really…” I whispered.
“Don’t lie to me.” Ethan said firmly. “With me, you never have to pretend to be strong.”
1 collapsed into his arms, sobbing uncontrollably, letting years of pain and frustration spill out.
Across the street, Linda smirked as she raised her phone, snapping a picture of Ethan holding me.
“This will be perfect,” she said smugly. “With this, she’ll have no choice but to divorce him.”
Meanwhile, Ryan was at the cashier’s desk, finishing up the photoshoot payment.
When he tried to use his card, he was shocked to learn that the account had been frozen.
“What are you saying? The card is frozen? That’s impossible! It has to be your machine malfunctioning!”
