Chapter 32
Naturally, Sia declined.
“I’m afraid I won’t be able to attend. My leg is injured and I’m required to lessen my movement. I wish you a happy birthday in advance, Vivienne.”
“Are you really goin
really going to reject my invitation and make me a laughing stock after everything I’ve done to get you to come? I’ve purposely printed this invitation only for you out of everyone in our class.” Vivienne actually looked hurt.
“I admit we didn’t have the best relationship in the past, I know I’m hot headed, but don’t I, at least, deserve a chance to atone for my deeds?” Her words sounded so sincere that Sia didn’t know how to decline without sounding rude.
“Viv took the initiative to seek your forgiveness and amend the relationship between you, Sia. Why not. give her a chance?”
“We’re all classmates here, if you decline, it only means you’re holding grudges.”
“It’s none of your business whether Sia attends the party or not! Don’t try to guilt trip her into this.” Bella exclaimed, successfully shutting the crowd.
“It’s okay, Bells. They are right, it’s rude of me to reject her offer. I’m looking forward to the party, Viv.”
Sia accepted the invitation with a smile. What she was looking forward to was seeing what Vivienne had up her sleeves this time.
When their classes ended, Sia and Bella went to the mall together again. Bella had lived alone after moving out from her foster home and learned how to cook her own meals.
“Did you give Sebastian the gift you bought that day?” Bella asked.
“No. Something came up and it wasn’t the right time anymore. So many things happened in that short span of time, to cut the story short, Sebastian is injured and I’m taking care of him.”
Sia recited the incident to Bella, by the time she was done, her teeth were clenched with anger. Nothing good ever comes from associating with that bastard Nathan.
“Oh, is he alright though?”
“No. The doctor says it’s a serious injury and would need my support to even move around.”

that look, trouble followed.
“Hey don’t look at me like that! I’m only trying to help. You mentioned Sebastian’s injury is on his calf, why don’t we buy pig’s trotters? Look, there’s even a discount going on for pig trotters today, perfect!”
Bella dragged her towards the sales person. “They say eating trotters makes your calves stronger and heal leg injuries.”
“Really!” Sia’s eyes widened at the large trotters on display. “Chef Liam is a good cook! I think he’d be able to make something delicious out of it!”
advice.
That doesn’t sound so bad. Sia thought. For once, her friend actually had good ad
Sia skipped happily to the seller and chose the largest one that caught her eyes leaving behind a shocked Bella frozen in place.
“Wait a minute… You live in Pinecrest Heights, right? With a professional chef cooking your meals…”
“Yes, Chef Liam’s cooking skills are simply outstanding. I feel like I’ve gained a few pounds over the past few weeks.” Sia joked
“But… Isn’t Sebastian an illegitimate child in the Sterling family? He isn’t favored nor does he even have a status in the family business. How does he have such money to afford that lifestyle?”
I think he’s just trying to make me happy so I don’t suffer insults from Rose.” Sia shrugged.
Bella narrowed her eyes. How can Sia not find Sebastian’s spending suspicious? She’s usually a clever girl, it’s baffling how she’s easily brainwashed by Sebastian.
Unless Sebastian’s receiving a seven figure salary monthly, he can’t afford personal chefs, butlers and
maids!
Sia was happy with her haul. She dropped the biggest trotter in her basket and went to the cashier to
check out.
“That’s two hundred dollars ma’am. Cash or card?”
“Card please.” Sia said, digging into her bag for her credit card. But Sia had used up almost all the money in her card on the pen she bought for Sebastian. There’s only less than a hundred and ten dollars left in
her card.
“Should I pay for it, you can return it when you receive your pay for this month.” Bella understood the situation looking at Sia’s grim face.
But Sia shook her head looking further into her bag. If she didn’t help Bella with her financial struggles, she wouldn’t impose on her. Between her three jobs, she still barely covers her personal needs.

“Please step aside if you’re not ready to pay. You’re hogging the line.” The cashier exclaimed at them. “Why come to the store when you can’t even afford $200.” She scoffed under her breath.
“Just a
a second please, I’ll bring it out now.” Sia ignored her rude words and handed the card confidently over to the cashier who took it and swiped it in.
It was
s one of the many cards she received from Sebastian’s friends on their engagement party. She carried it with her everyday. And they came in handy today. It might not be much, but it would be enough to cover the cost of the trotters.
The payment was made successfully, and the cashier blinked at the remaining balance.
“What’s the matter? Isn’t it enough? I still have more here.” Sia took out the remaining nine cards and spread them out on the counter.
“Oh, please,” The cashier beamed at Sia. “Don’t make such jokes. It’s a pleasure doing business with you ma’am. Looking forward to your patronage.” She wrapped up the item and handed it over to Sia with a wide smile and polite nod.
