Chapter 39
Sebastian threw the phone when the call ended. His entire shirt was drenched with sweat as Alex helped him up to the hotel room. He staggered straight to the bathroom and turned on the cold water, casing the blood throbbing in his veins.
Sia waited back at home until 10pm, but Sebastian still did not return. She trudged to her room when she couldn’t stay up any longer.
Sebastian didn’t leave the bathroom till 2am in the morning. He dressed back and notified Alex.
“Send me back now.” He said.
“… Yes, sir.”
Alex swallowed his questions and obeyed the orders, he can no longer understand his boss’s actions when it comes to Ms Anastasia.
“You could’ve taken my advice and returned earlier. Now you’re dripping wet, what if you come down with a cold?” Alex finally said at last. His curiosity gets the best of him.
“I’m afraid I might scare her.” Sebastian answered after a pause. His voice was faint and low.
Whatever had Sia done to get Sebastian wrapped around her finger like this? His boss had fallen so
deep.
When they arrived at the mansion, Sebastian went straight to Sia’s room, careful not to make a sound as he moved. Yet as soon as he opened the door to her room, Chubbles bounded to his legs
barking.
“Silence, or I’ll hand you over to chef Liam to make dinner.”
Chubbles shivered, whimpering as he swallowed his barks. His Daddy is really scary!
Seeing the dog obediently sitting at the door, Sebastian walked into the room towards Sia’s sleeping figure on the bed.
“I’m back.” He whispered.
Sia shifted on the bed when she heard Sebastian’s voice. She turned around groggily wrapping her arms around his neck.

“You promise to come back early, Seb. What took you so long? I was worried for a very long time.”
Sia’s soft voice struck Sebastian’s heart, igniting the leftover desires from the drug. Sia adjusted her position on the bed.
“I know you’re busy, so it’s okay. Have you brought a stick with you to bed? It’s uncomfortable, please take it out.” She shifts again, Sebastian went still on the bed.
“Did it just get bigger than it was? What a strange stick.”
“Strange indeed. Be good and stop moving. Not only does it get bigger, it might eat you if you don’t stop moving.” Sebastian threatened.
“Mmm, fine.”
Nestled in Sebastian’s warm chest, Sia fell back asleep. That night, she slept comfortably and safely, and when she woke up in the morning, Sia smiled when she realized it wasn’t just her dream. Sebastian had returned home just as he promised.
But that smile fell when Sebastian turned his head to the side, his body shaking in a fit of cough.
“Did you catch a cold, Sebastian?” Sia asked. She touched his forehead which was warmer than
usual.
“Wait right here, I’ll go fetch some medicine right away.” Sia shot up from the bed and ran out with nothing but her pajamas and socks towards the equipment room.
Sebastian was burning from the fever, but smiled at Sia’s attention. His sacrifice was definitely
worth it.
“Hey, I’m back.” Sia returned not long after. “Remember this? It’s the same one you gave me when I was cold. It’s very effective.”
She popped out the brown pill and handed it to Sebastian.
“It’s bitter.” Sebastian complained after swallowing it making a face.
“Ah, I almost forgot. I’ll go check the kitchen for something sweet. This medicine is extremely bitter. I didn’t like it either.”
“No need, it’s already there.” Sebastian said, stopping her from leaving.
Sia was about to ask what was here when she was pulled into his arms, his thin lips covering hers.
Chapte’s s
He didn’t let go of her until they were both panting, their foreheads resting against each other’s
foreheads.
“You’re so sweet, Sia.”
Sia licked her lips for the sweetness Sebastian was talking about, but didn’t taste anything. She hadn’t eaten anything yet, he was lying.
“Go back to sleep. The medicine will make you dizzy and sleepy. I’ll be outside in case you need anything.”
“Alright kitten.”
Like a little good wife, Sia helped Sebastian lay into a comfortable position in the bed and covered him up with a thin quilt. She left the room when he closed his eyes.
Sia had taken two steps outside when Chubbles bounded to her legs playfully. Sia picked it up and descended down to the first floor and cuddled on the sofa switching on the TV to watch.
But all she saw on the channels were reports and gossip pertaining to the Ashfords.
After she had departed last night, the reporters who had been called by Vivienne rushed into the party at the agreed time, heading directly to the guest room Vivienne had shown them before.
But they were shocked to realize that the lady having sex with a beggar was actually Ms Ashford herself. But Vivienne only got more excited at the attention instead of shame.
Mr. Williams, on the other hand, was found guilty of tax evasion last night.
It was as if the god of bad luck paid them a visit overnight, but still, Sia didn’t feel any remorse towards their downfall.
She cradled the little dog to her chest, mumbling.
This is how bad people end, Chubbles.”
