Patrick frowned and pursed his lips for a moment before lying back down. He hugged Juliette tightly, stuffed the pill into her mouth, and said, “Sleep.”
Juliette kept her lips tightly sealed, refusing to cooperate with taking the medicine.
Patrick had her tightly bound. Her limbs were restrained. She had no choice but to nudge his abdomen with her hips, trying to push him away.
Patrick hissed.
Juliette fell silent, but she didn’t turn to look at him or ask what was wrong.
The two lay stiffly in bed, both on their sides, uncovered.
But the heating in the room was more than adequate. The snowflakes melted as soon as they landed on the windowpane.
Patrick was still holding the pill between his fingers.
If this went on, the pill would melt, or get contaminated with bacteria.
Suddenly, Patrick pulled open her collar and bit down on her tanned shoulder.
Juliette turned around and shoved him hard. “What are you doing? Ouch!”
As soon as she opened her mouth, Par
lips covered hers, pushing the pill to the back of her throat.
The foreign object made Juliette swallow instinctively, and the pill went down.
Juliette glared at him.
The atmosphere did not turn romantic. Instead, it became cold,
Juliette said, “Did you give me medicine for sleepwalking? I haven’t verified it. Maybe it’s some kind of medicine that controls my mind.”
This was definitely a counterattack to what Patrick had just said, but Patrick’s mind couldn’t register that for a moment. As a result, he was immediately provoked by Juliette’s words.
His voice was ice–cold. “Then, why don’t you verify it? Go get a urine and blood test now, and convict me in your heart. The room suddenly fell silent. The sound of wind and snow outside the window became extremely clear.
Booming sounds were heard. Fireworks shot into the sky in the distance, illuminating the horizon and turning the sky resplendent. The sounds of various firecrackers added to the lively atmosphere.
They actually quarreled on Christmas, and right after a near–death experience.
It was kind of ironic.

Thinking back to the restaurant, when Juliette saw him with her eyes red, her expression filled with years of emotion, Patrick decided to yield first.
He gathered her in his arms, lowered his head, and gently kissed her lips.
“Even if it was a psychiatric drug, it was meant to make you completely dependent on me, wanting to be by my side constantly. I could then look at you, and give you a kiss whenever I pleased, and go about my day feeling satisfied.”
Juliette blocked his lips, not allowing him to kiss her again.
“What if you turned me into a killing machine and manipulated me to kill people?”
Patrick saw the seriousness in her expression; she didn’t look like she was joking at all. He wondered if she had always thought so.
“That’s not funny. You’re Louis’s mother, someone I would never hurt. I’ll be angry if you keep saying that.”
Juliette did not probe further.
Patrick leaned in for another kiss, but she stopped him. She sat up, pushed him onto the bed, and unbuttoned his shirt to check his back.
She moved with speed and precision. Patrick didn’t even have a chance to stop her.
There was a fist–sized bruise on his lower back, dangerously close to his spine.
She poked it gently with her fingertip and felt Patrick stiffen. It must have hurt badly.
In addition, there were bruises of all sizes on his back and arms, which were bloody.
Finn’s men must have tried to kill him.
“These injuries are all because of me. Do you still think it’s worth it?” Juliette whispered.
Patrick pulled her back into his arms, holding her close. “I dared to marry you under those circumstances. What’s there to be afraid of now?”
Juliette’s eyelashes fluttered. “If you regret it, we can get a divorce. I’ll take Louis with me, and you can start a new life- Before Juliette could finish her sentence, Patrick covered her mouth with his own. He even bit her lip, which hurt quite a bit.
“Don’t ever say
that again. It makes me angry. I’ll bite you every time you say it, okay?”
Juliette was speechless.
Patrick continued, “You even want to take Louis away? Are you taking advantage of his love for you?”
Juliette was silent. It wasn’t entirely so. She mainly felt that Patrick was just an actor and couldn’t protect Louis well.
Patrick bit her again. “Don’t even think about it.”
Outside, the fireworks were still bursting, painting the sky in a riot of colors. It was exceptionally beautiful.
Patrick held Juliette in his arms, lying in bed and gazing at the sky outside the window. He wanted to do something, but his

Before dawn, Patrick was awakened by the pain and couldn’t fall back asleep. He simply went to the study.
It was just past six o’clock when Stuart came to visit.
At that time, the sky was still dark, and only the streetlights fell on the snow, reflecting a faint, cold, white glow.
“Is something the matter?” Patrick asked indifferently.
A faint scent of alcohol clung to Stuart, suggesting he had probably stayed up all night with friends and come directly here without sleeping.
Stuart said, “I just got some news. Wynn is out and looking for Luke and Shae. If Luke and Shae can be found, you can have your revenge.”
Patrick’s hand holding the pen paused. A bone–chilling coldness emanated from him.
It had been five years.
The police had absolutely no trace of Luke or Shae. After suffering heavy losses five years ago, the two completely disappeared.
Stuart carefully observed Patrick’s expression, not daring to speak for a long while.
A snap was heard, which startled Stuart. He realized that the pen in Patrick’s hand had snapped in half.
“But I think it will take a long time to find them. Patrick, we still have some preparation time. The key is, what kind of preparation do we need?”
Stuart’s voice was very soft. He knew better than anyone that Patrick had been looking for those two for a long time and couldn’t wait to tear them to pieces.
However, the prospect of finding them filled Stuart with fear because he didn’t know what kind of preparations should be made.
“Let’s not talk about this for now.” Stuart immediately changed the subject. “If only we could get in touch with Wynn. Our latest intelligent driving system would definitely be ahead of the game if we had Wynn’s help. Don’t worry, I’ve already had people contact Wynn.”
Wynn was a genius hacker, a master of tracking and counter–tracking.
The intelligent technology she developed independently two years ago had attracted bids from many companies, reaching valuations of several hundred million dollars, and remaining highly sought after.
However, she was laid–back, never appeared in public, and was hard to find.
Patrick mumbled in agreement. “Find her as soon as possible and accelerate the company’s development.”
The hatred between the Montgomery and Vaughn families was already established.
His opponents were too powerful. He must build his strength quickly.
