Chapter 139
Juliette held Louis’s hand and went to the hospital.
Turning a corner, Juliette saw a man in his forties or fifties walking out of Patrick’s ward..
She thought the man looked familiar. However, she only caught fleeting glimpse of his profile before he turned away, leaving her unsure of his identity.
“Mommy, what are you looking at? Daddy’s calling us.” Louis tugged at Juliette’s hand.
Juliette snapped back to reality and led him into the ward.
“Did someone come to your ward just now? Who was it?” Juliette asked casually.
A puzzled expression crossed Patrick’s face. “Did he? Maybe you were mistaken? He might have just been passing by my ward.”
Juliette stared at him for a few seconds.
She couldn’t detect any sign of lying.
She walked over and replaced the flowers in the vase with fresh ones, choosing not to press the matter further.
“How are you feeling today? What did you have for breakfast?” said Juliette.
It was a suite with a separate kitchen. A private chef took care of all of Patrick’s meals at the hospital.
A slight smile appeared in Patrick’s eyes.
Juliette saw the morning sunlight fall on his face, outlining his perfect profile that made her heart skip a beat.
“I had porridge with side nes
a croissant, and a glass of milk, Patrick said with a voice as deep and pleasant as a violin.
Juliette couldn’t help but linger on him for a moment.

Then she said, “That’s great. If you can eat, your health can recover faster. How are you feeling today? Does the wound still hurt? Is it starting to itch?”
Patrick leaned against the pillow, his eyes smiling as he looked at her.
Louis sat on the sofa, his big eyes darting back and forth between his parents. Then he took a pear from the plate and munched on it, juice all over his mouth.
Juliette took a tissue and wiped the juice from his mouth.
Patrick said, “The wounds are a little itchy. There is a gel that can be used, but I can’t reach some wounds myself.”
“I’ll do it for you later. Maybe you’ll be an actor again later. Leaving scars may affect your career. By the way, are you still going to be an actor?”
Patrick looked at her and chuckled. “We’ll talk about it later.”
Louis said, “Daddy’s biggest wish is for Mommy to apply the gel to his wounds.”

Then he took a bite of the fragrant pear. It was crunchy, sweet, and juicy, perfectly reflecting his mood today.
Juliette was taken aback. Her gaze met Patrick’s in midair, and her earlobes quietly turned red.
Later, Harper arrived. Louis proactively offered to go out with her for some fresh air. He even called the caregiver away, leaving Patrick and Juliette alone in the ward.

Juliette took off his hospital gown top, picked up the gel, dabbed a bit with her fingertips, and gently applied it to Patrick’s wounds.
“It’s said this gel is quite effective. A small tube costs over three hundred dollars. If you apply it consistently, the scar can disappear within one or two years.”
Patrick pursed his lips, his eyes deep. “But my eyes will never be able to grow to the back of my head in this lifetime.”
Juliette pondered for a moment before getting his dry humor.
“I’m here. I can always apply it to you until your scars disappear
“Will you get tired of it after one or two years?” Patrick asked.
It sounded like an ordinary question.
But the atmosphere in the ward seemed to change slightly.
Juliette keenly noticed Patrick’s breathing had softened.
It turned out that he had asked the most careful question in the most casual tone.
“You have a good figure. I can look at it every day for two years and not get tired of it. Mr. Clarke, you don’t lack confidence in your figure, do you?”
Juliette’s tone was laced with amusement.
Patrick turned to look at her.
His eyes were burning and tender.
It made one want to indulge in it.
Juliette leaned in and kissed him on the lips.
Patrick held her head.
Juliette was originally behind him, but because of this kiss, Juliette ended up in his arms.

The weather was getting hotter.
Patrick’s health was gradually getting better.
He went from healing from his wounds to being able to walk around, and then the doctor said he could be discharged in two days.

Chapter 139
Meanwhile, Louis was going to start school in two days.
Juliette calculated the days.“We can take Louis to school together

Louis was the happiest, almost jumping up and clapping his hands. “Now Dad and Mommy can take me to school. Great!” On the second day of the countdown, Juliette took Louis to buy all the supplies Louis would need for school.
On the first day of the countdown, Juliette had to send Louis to Constance’s care early in the morning because she had something to do at the company. She went to the company herself.
Louis watched Juliette drive away and suddenly felt today was gray. He couldn’t see Juliette until evening. Life was gray, and he had to find something hopeful to do.
He sat in the yard, basking in the sun, thinking what he could count on.
A little girl poked her head inside the door She couldn’t take her eyes off Louis’s beautiful face.
She offered to take Louis to play, but he refused.
The little girl was not discouraged and said, “My mother’s birthday is next week, and I want to buy a gift for her in advance. I don’t know what to buy. Can you go with me?”
Louis’s eyes suddenly lit up. He thought, ‘Yes. I can also buy a present for Mommy, but when is Mommy’s birthday?
‘I don’t care what time it is. Do I have to pick a day to give Mommy a present? No‘ thought Louis.
“Since you need my help, I’ll go with you,” Louis said coldly.
Constance thought it was no big deal for the children to go shopping in the mall. They could go.
Moreover, the little girl lived next door, and they usually had contacts. They were well–known families.
So Constance asked Harper to go with Louis and also arranged for a chauffeur to follow them.
Louis always remembered the incident when Madeline came to the hospital to make a fuss. He felt it was not good for a man to have a childhood sweetheart, and his future wife would be jealous.
Therefore, he always remained cold in front of the little girl. With his small fleshy hands in his pockets and his back straight, he slowly followed the little girl.
The little girl chattered, but he didn’t answer. He would answer unless the little girl had any specific questions for him.
“Should I buy my mother a dress or a necklace?”
Louis frowned slightly and said coldly, “Your mother is not here. It is easy to buy a dress that doesn’t fit.”
“You are right. I’d better buy my mother a bag. My father said the bag was the ultimate cure for everything.”
Louis was dumbfounded.
Up ahead was a luxury handbag store. The little girl took her maid straight to it to choose a bag. She called for Louis to join
them.

Louis glanced over and found them too tacky for his mommy. He sat down to wait for them.
Suddenly, he heard a conversation nearby. “You said you’re going to give Juliette a birthday party? Juliette Vaughn?”
