Chapter 17
Juliette stood at the stairway entrance, her ambiguous gaze sweeping across the whole family as her red lips gently parted. “You two sure are close, huh? My fiance’s call to invite me ended up with you. My sister and my fiancé… interesting.”
She gave a soft smile, while Bianca’s face drastically changed, and she bit her lower lip.
No matter how much she flaunted before, Juliette always believed her. But from last night till now, Juliette seemed different.
‘Did she really find out something? she wondered.
Juliette continued, “This brings me to the events of last night once more. Bianca, you pushed me into the water, intent on killing me. Could it be that you couldn’t bear the news of my impending wedding with Finn?”
Bianca’s eyes widened in shock instantly.
What happened last night, despite her cunning defense, might now be questioned anew in light of Juliette exposing her
motives.
“I didn’t! Fion couldn’t reach you, so he called me. Even Dad couldn’t get through to you, could he?” Bianca’s tears dripped down, not entirely fake, but being frightened by Juliette quite a bit
If the Vaughn family became suspicious, it would be difficult for her to establish herself in the future.
When did that bitch get so smart?‘ she cursed inwardly.
“Oh? But there ain’t any missed calls from Finn on my phone,” Juliette sneered, stepping upstairs.
Bianca’s heart jolted. She instantly threw herself into Evan’s arms on the sofa, brushing against Evan’s groin inadvertently with her delicate hands.
“Evan, you don’t doubt me, right? Juliette has been targeting me ince last night; trust me, it’s ‘cause Finn couldn’t reach her that he called me. Were there no missed calls just because Juliette said so?” she protested.
Evan’s blood instantly surged toward his lower body, and in his eyes, Bianca was a pitiful girl who needed his broad embrace and strong arms to love and cherish
He held her very, very tightly. “Of course, I believe you. We’ve grown up together since we were kids, so I know what you’re
trouble” like. Juliette must be jealous of how much we all spoil you and is deliberately stirring up
Polly broke into tears too. Juliette, that troublemaker, must hatene and is intentionally targeting Bianca. She knows how important Bianca is to me. Without Bianca, I’d have lost my mind long ago….
the
Mason clenched his fists and stepped forward to comfort Polly and Bianca. “Don’t take Juliette’s words to heart. We got her–a- great marriage with the Montgomery family and treated her well, yet she’s still resentful and even sowed discord among family!
“Just bear with it a bit longer. Once she’s married to Finn, things will settle down.”
Bianca rested in Evan’s embrace, curling her lips into a smile while snickering inwardly, Juliette, you’ll never be my match. What’s the point of being tough now? All your family trusts me unconditionally. You are going to be replaced by me soon!
Whether it’s the Vaughn family or Finn… I’m getting it all!

Polly chimed in. “Exactly, once Juliette gets married, she won’t live in this house anymore, and then our whole family will finally have some peace.”
She held Bianca’s hand, her face beaming with maternal love. “Banca, aren’t you going to the auction tonight? Have you got your gown ready?”
“Mom, Evan has already picked one for me. We’re going to the store to pick it up at three. The staff actually wanted to deliver it home, but I thought I’d need to do my makeup and styling, so I’ll just go to the store. Evan will take me,” Bianca replied sweetly, all adorably obedient.
As she heard Bianca’s voice, Mason’s anger subsided a lot.
Although Bianca was the daughter of his deceased friend, after raising her for so many years, he’d long treated her as his own. And this daughter was really smart and capable.
The Vaughn family ran an entertainment company initially, one of the three major players in the industry.
At 18, Bianca expressed her passion for acting and singing, so he introduced her to the entertainment industry.
Luckily, Bianca didn’t disappoint them and became a popular star
Not long after, she displayed her amazing talent for perfume–making, leveraging her celebrity status to create a celebrity fragrance.
It topped the charts for new perfume sales that year as soon as it hit the shelves.
This success allowed the Vaughn family to quickly expand into the perfume market, becoming a rising star in the industry.
Five years on, that very perfume still boasted staggering sales, remaining the best seller in the Vaughn family’s perfume
company.
Nailing one successful perfume could pretty much seal a company’s reputation in the biz. A lot of the time, the same perfume kept racking up the sales in the industry.
With such an outstanding foster daughter as Bianca, there was no way Mason wouldn’t value her.
If it weren’t for Juliette swooping in and dating Finn first, he’d have been itching to marry Bianca into the Montgomery family.
In his eyes, Bianca was way more deserving of marrying into the Montgomery family–one of the top four wealthy clans. “Evan, make sure you stick closely with Bianca tonight. I’ve allocated a 3–million–dollar budget for you to snag that top–tier sandalwood for Bianca,” Mason instructed sternly.
“Don’t worry, Dad, I got this,” came the assured reply from Evan
Bianca smiled sweetly, “Thank you, Dad. I promise to develop even more outstanding perfumes and take our company to new heights.”
Mason’s mood improved significantly. With a sweet son, an obedient daughter, and a thriving company, what more could he
ask for?
Once Juliette got hitched and secured the Montgomery family’s connections, everything for the Vaughn family would only get better.

At 2 PM. Juliette stood at the entrance of a high–end fashion boutique.
The display window showcased a black–based evening gown with stars shimmering all over as if the designer had plucked the entire night sky out of the heavens above.
It was truly stunning. No wonder both Bianca and Evan were after it at the same
e time.
Juliette tucked her red sun umbrella under her arm, walked into the store, and before the attendant could speak, she asked, “Is Grayson upstairs? I’m Juliette Vaughn. You can tell him I’m heading up.”
The attendant was put off by Juliette’s attitude at first but still phoned Grayson. After the call, she became very respectful and offered to escort her upstairs.
t Juliette declined, opting to go up h
As she approached the entrance, the office door.swung open, revealing the fiercely charismatic Grayson, who had come to
unlock it.
“It’s Sunday What brings you here?” In his memory, Juliette always came by on Thursdays.
“Has the “Stars Are Close‘ gown been sold to the Vaughn family? Juliette sat down in the office.
“Yeah, you told me to sell it earlier. I took a huge hit, 300 thousand dollars.”
Grayson was a top–notch jewelry and fashion designer, specializing in bespoke creations.
Occasionally, inspired by new ideas, he designed additional pieces, all priced exorbitantly.
“Hmm, I asked you to sell it… Juliette seemed lost in some memory, her voice dripping with unspoken irony and coldness.
