I nodded and turned away.
But in my heart, all I felt was mockery.
He had already given me more than enough surprises.
What I didn’t expect was that before I could make a move, Daina had already lost her patience.
Two hours later, I was busy packing my luggage when Greyson called.
His voice was laced with anger:
“Emma, I was just giving out employee bonuses–did you really have to send a message to insult
people?”
“As the boss, do I not even have that right?”
“You keep saying you understand me. Is this what you mean by understanding?”
In the background, I could faintly hear Daina’s pitiful sobs and the comforting words of other
employees.
I felt exhausted, rubbing my sore eyes.
“You’re overthinking. It’s just ten million–I couldn’t care less.”
“If she wants to say things, let her. If you believe her, then don’t call me.”
Before he could respond, I hung up.
A moment later, his messages started coming in.
“Emma, apologize to Daina!”
“The employees are all watching. If you don’t apologize, how am I supposed to manage them?”
“You’re embarrassing me today!”
I didn’t reply–I simply deleted his messages.

But that evening, he came to pick me up in person.
When I appeared in casual home wear, Greyson’s expression turned ice–cold.
“You’re wearing that to the company’s celebration party?”
As soon as he finished speaking, the car window on the passenger side rolled down.
Daina’s youthful, delicate face appeared.
She playfully stuck out her tongue.
“Oops, sorry, Mr.Corbyn–1 forgot to notify Emma in advance…”
I smiled indifferently.
“I’m getting older. No matter how I dress up, I can’t compare to young girls.”
“With such a beautiful secretary, you don’t need me to make you look good.”
Whatever reprimand Greyson had prepared was stuck in his throat.
Seeing that Daina had no intention of giving up her seat, I simply opened the back door and got in.
The entire ride, Daina chattered nonstop, flaunting all the benefits Greyson had given her over the
past five years.
If it wasn’t a river–view villa, it was luxury jewelry.
Greyson’s expression darkened, and he tried to interrupt several times.
But each time, I casually changed the subject.
When we arrived at the hotel, the valet greeted us, bowing respectfully.
To Daina, he said “Mrs. Corbyn” over and over again.
Greyson panicked and quickly pulled me into the corridor.
His voice was anxious.
“Don’t overthink it, Daina is just my subordinate, nothing more.”
“Today is our fifth wedding anniversary–I didn’t forget. I brought you here to make you happy.”

I looked at his uneasy expression and suddenly laughed.
“I’m not mad. Don’t overthink it.”
“You go ahead, I need to make a quick call.”
Greyson nodded, his eyes filled with relief.
The moment he left, I called the lawyer.
I urged him to finalize the divorce agreement as soon as possible.
The lawyer asked about the details of the money transfers.
I answered each question one by one.
Half an hour later, I entered the private room.
A group of young female employees surrounded Greyson, taking turns offering him drinks.
Hearing my footsteps, they turned back awkwardly.
“S–Sorry, Emma, we were just thanking Mr.Corbyn, that’s all. Please, have a seat…”
Before I could speak, Daina waved a generous hand.
“Emma isn’t a petty twenty–year–old girl. Of course she wouldn’t mind. Right, Mr.Corbyn? You always
say Emma is kind and generous!”
“In fact, I think Mr.Corbyn is just as kind and generous! Otherwise, why would he give me such a huge advance on my bonus? My friends are all so jealous–they’re dying to quit their jobs and come
work for us!”
Then she shot me a playful wink.
A collective gasp swept through the room.
The employees hesitated, their raised glasses frozen in midair.
Under their curious yet anxious gazes, I sat down calmly.
Daina smiled and picked up her own glass, walking over.
“Emma, let me toast to you. Juggling work and home life must be exhausting, but don’t forget to love

yourself! A woman should always dress beautifully, no matter her age.”
As she spoke, her gaze landed pointedly on my casual clothes,
I ignored her and said flatly, “I can’t drink tonight. I’ll have tea instead.”
Greyson frowned,
“You can’t drink? Emma, are you kidding? This is how you prove you’re not mad? Stop making a
scene,”
Daina ignored my words, filled my glass with wine, and handed it to me.
Suppressing my anger, I repeated coldly, “I said I can’t drink. I’m on medication.”
Daina glanced at Greyson’s darkening face,
Then, with a giggle, she forcefully shoved the glass into my hand.
I pushed it away,
Wine splashed across her chest, soaking her gown.
The glass fell and shattered at her feet, leaving a crimson cut.
The room fell into silence,
Greyson’s face turned stormy,
With a sharp sound, he slammed his fork onto the table.
“Emma, are you testing my patience?!”
“How much longer do you plan to make a scene? Daina already apologized and toasted you. Don’t push your luck!”
