Chapter 4
Daina’s eyes were red, tears welling up as if about to spill.
I took in the sight, my lips curling into a cold smirk.
“Apologized? Toasted? Tell me, which part of what she said sounded like an apology? Am I hearing things, or is your brain malfunctioning?”
Greyson was infuriated by my indifferent attitude.
“Don’t understand plain words, do you? Fine, I’ll personally offer you a toast!”
Before anyone could react, he grabbed me by the neck, forcing my head back.
Then, without hesitation, he picked up his glass and poured the liquor straight into my mouth.
Caught off guard, I choked on the burning alcohol, coughing violently.
Tears streamed down my face from the sheer intensity of it. Through my blurred vision, I saw Greyson scoop me up in his arms, his voice laced with anger as he threatened:
“Apologize to Daina, now! Don’t push me, Emma!”
“Think carefully–everything in the company is under my name. If you divorce me now, you won’t
get a single cent!”
Everyone expected me to explode in rage right then and there.
Instead, I caught my breath, my face flushed, and nodded.
“Fine. Let’s get divorced.”
Greyson froze, utterly shocked by my words.
I grabbed my coat, draped it over my shoulders, and turned to leave. But after just two steps, my
vision went black, and I collapsed to the side.
A crimson pool spread beneath me.
Greyson’s face turned deathly pale. Yet, he still thought I was putting on an act.

His voice wavered, tinged with panic.
“Emma, what now? What kind of stunt are you pulling this time?”
The entire room fell into a stunned silence, no one daring to make a sound.
Pain engulfed me, rendering me speechless.
Two minutes later, Greyson’s patience snapped. He grabbed me roughly.
“Enough, Emma! Stop pretending! If you think this will stop me from divorcing you, you’re wrong!”
“You were the unreasonable one tonight. Daina was just being kind by toasting you!”
“Sutton already said the medicine you took doesn’t require dietary restrictions. Who are you trying
to fool?”
One of the shareholders, who had been with us since the company’s early days, finally spoke up, unable to bear it any longer.
“Mr.Corbyn, I don’t think she’s faking it. That’s real blood. You should take her to the hospital”
“Yeah, who would go this far just to put on a show? This is serious.”
“It was just a drink. She said she couldn’t handle it. Why did you have to force her? And all for a
secretary…”
Greyson’s mind wavered, torn between doubt and belief.
Just as he hesitated, Daina suddenly cried out in pain.
“Mr.Corbyn… my leg… I think I can’t walk anymore…”
His gaze flickered to my blood–drained face.
Clenching his jaw, he scooped Daina into his arms.
“I’ll take you to the hospital. It’s on the way.”
With that, he ordered a few male employees to carry me to the car as well.
Daina had no chance to refuse.
The team–building event came to an abrupt, bloody end.

On the way, Daina tried to flaunt her position as usual.
But I was too weak to respond.
I pulled out my phone and sent a rushed message to my lawyer, instructing him to bring the finalized divorce agreement to the hospital.
I couldn’t endure this marriage for another day.
Greyson seemed to notice something was wrong. He called my name a few times, but I ignored him.
By the time we arrived at the hospital, Daina reached for the door, signaling Greyson to carry her
inside.
Unexpectedly, he didn’t spare her a single glance.
Instead, his eyes locked onto the blood still seeping from beneath me.
In the next second, he carried me in his arms and rushed toward the emergency room without a
word.
Daina sat frozen in the car, trembling with anger, yet utterly helpless.
Dr. Sutton personally performed the surgery.
When he read my diagnosis, he stood still, stunned.
Two seconds later, he handed the report to Greyson.
Greyson’s pupils constricted as he read the words: Pregnant.
“Pregnant? How is that possible? Why didn’t I know?”
He turned to Sutton, his voice filled with disbelief.
“You’re her doctor. How could you hide something this big from me?”
Sutton let out a bitter laugh, his expression dark.
“I’ve known you for years, and I was the one who performed her last three abortions. She deliberately hid this pregnancy from me–have you ever wondered why?”
“Greyson, I warned you. Lies can’t stay buried forever. The truth always comes out.”

“You forced alcohol down her throat. This child is gone. And after multiple miscarriages in such a short time, her body never had the chance to recover. After this surgery, she’ll never be able to
conceive again.”
“Greyson, you are beyond foolish!”
“When the surgery is over, figure out how you’re going to explain this to Emma!”
With those final words, Sutton turned and walked into the operating room, leaving Greyson standing
in the corridor, drowning in regret.
The surgery lasted three hours.
Daina texted him several times, begging him to take her to get her wounds treated.
But Greyson never replied.
